The Chronicle will host its sixth annual Reporting Workshop — a virtual opportunity this year, for students nationwide to learn from our newsroom’s award-winning journalists — on Friday, October 8, 2021. Participants, who can register and attend free of charge, will have the opportunity to take part in several sessions on reporting strategies, finding and using troves of public data, and the writing craft.
This is a challenging time for student journalists to cover higher education. Political machinations, free-speech crises, and threats to public health make colleges difficult worlds to decipher. The goal of the workshop is to share ideas, create a space for brainstorming, and lift the veil on areas of the academic enterprise that will allow students to take their reporting to the next level.
The Chronicle is the nation’s foremost outlet covering higher education, with a newsroom full of journalists adept at analyzing how colleges work and holding them to account.

Registration is simple, and should take less than 10 minutes. College students involved in or interested in their campus’s journalism scene are eligible to attend.
