I started thinking about this a minute ago...
I got **** whoopins when I was younger with a belt. I started to think about why. The obvious answer was because maybe my parents got their **** whooped too. So then I thought maybe if you take this back far enough you get to slavery days where this was used as a tool to keep one in line.
Is it possible that blacks use this form of discipline because it was seen as effective from slavery?
Just a thought...
The bible says spare the rod, spoil the child. Some I'm thinking it comes from there. And you also have to think that Slavery wasn't something that just Black people experienced. So I'm sure folks were getting whippins in other places.
^^^Basically....Asian (I didn't want to say Chinese because I don't know what country it was in) people give it to there kids good. A teacher beat this little asian boy or girl to death with a bamboo stick and the parents said the child probably deserved it.
Also where do you think folks get that whole beating the child on the feet thing from...ASIANS. The child remembers the whoopin because they have problems walking for a few days.
everywhere outside of america, it's legal for A PARENT to hit THEIR children ...at least i know in the ISLANDS it is...When they(the parents) come to America, they get arrested for it cause they dont understand that it's illegal over here. WHICH IS CRAZY, this COUNTRY is crazy. how can someone tell you how to discipline your own child? but hey OH WELL...my kids sure as hell will be getting a spanking from time to time...

My Spanish teacher second semester was from Panama. And she was nervous about whippin her daughter in the states since she was new to the country or something like that. Anyway her daughter did something real bad and she promised her that when they went to visit Grandma's (in Panama) she was goin to get a whippin. She waited until their annual family trip to Panama and beat the hell out of her a soon as they touched ground. She said her daughter was trying to be nice to her the whole week before....guess she wasn't sweet enough.
