I have been at FAMU two years, and even though I used to to come to Florida every year or two growing up, I didn't see much of what I have seen since I have been here. It seems like people take pride in bein extremely country. What I mean, is those who have horrible dredlocks and sometimes gold teeth, and just talk ignorant as hell as if it is tite. I don't have any problem with a country accent, but there are some people who completely over-do it, and who never talk proper, as if it is the thing to do. I was watchin grandaddy souf on TV, and he was talkin about "down here, we don't pronounce the th at the end of words. We don't say south, we say souf. We don't say north, we say norf" and I was lookin like man this guy's a idiot. I could see if a kid was raised to say souf and that's all he knew, but for somebody who knows how to say it right but chooses to say it wrong just sounds stupid as hell to me.
Now have things always been like this? Is it just a Florida thing? I definitely realize that all people down south are not like this, so I am not generalizing anyone at all. But for these select people who take pride in bein ignorant and never lookin presentable, is it somethin that they think is good? I don't get it...
I think it is definately a florida thing. because there is a difference between being country and being ignorant. I'm from Texas and they say we are the most country people there are, but we don't sound or look like that
naw it's everywhere cause in NC they do it too and it gets on my nerves. my cousin does it on purpose and i don't know why and then when you do talk proper they call you sounding white. it's tallking proper english not white. it gets on my nerves too and i've been here my whole life. but we do say warter instead if wahhter

I don't know if you read everything I said. But I said that I am definitely sure that not everybody in Florida is like that, most people aren't. But they were sayin that maybe it is only a Florida thing that dudes will try to act like that, not that everybody in Florida does it.
maaaaaaaannnnn!! I'm from HOUSTON, TEXAS and i got golds w/diamonds in ma mouth. I guess i talk countray cuz boyz from the east coast and west coast say i do and I dont you use words like "hella" or "Yo, son, etc" In the south you dont notice it till outsiders tell you sound country. On the other hand , you can find me talking with the VP of Marketing of the Houston Rockets about the financial state of the league and analyzing solutions that will have a minimal marginal cost for the NBA. In summary, adjust to your surroundings while respecting yourself and others.

It's not just Florida...and just like ol boi said...we don't really notice it until those that are not from tha south point it out. And some people don't try to do...but there are those that do it...It's mainly has to do with tha way you were brought up...cuz most likely if you know how to say it...9 times out of 10 it will be pronounced like you do. And I wouldn't say it's pure ignorance...there are those that say it out of ignorance and then you have those that say it just because they are so used to hearin it....I KNOW...WE SAY EVERYTHING DOWN IN MISSISSIPPI...Like...Here...we don't say here...we say heyah
