I UNDERSTAND THAT WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN PERSONAL STYLES, BUT MY QUESTION IS; WHAT KIND OF CHANGES HAVE YOU MADE WITHIN YOUR CLOSET AFTER ARRIVING AT YOUR COLLEGE. OF COURSE WE SOMEWHAT DRESS ACCORDING TO LOCATION (i.e. NEW YORK, DC, ATLANTA...), BUT HAS YOUR WARDROBE REFLECTED A CHANGE IN LOCATION OR CHANGE IN MATURITY LEVELS. I KNOW NOW THAT IN MY AREA, TO BE DIFFERENT, I WONT WEAR HOODIES AND TIMS, BUT RATHER TAKE A MORE ADULT APPROACH AND SHOP ELSEWHERE IN PLACES LIKE STRUCTURE, EXPRESS, AE, AND PLACES LIKE THAT. THIS IN NO MEANS IS TO KNOCK ANYONES STYLE, BUT I WANT TO KNOW HOW YOUR STYLE HAS CHANGED.......
I dress more chill now. In HS I would never come to school in a hoodie or a sweat suit. Now thats all I rock. No one for me to impress . . . especially at 8am.
I would say my Style changed at the end of my senior year when i sold all of my Jerseys (except the ones that i bought as a collector) and started wearing various types of shirts, ect but I'm still wearing the same type of shoes and still can be seen wearing an icey white when i'm not doing something special
I agree with Smtg, It's all about the tee's because it stays warm is Atanta
longer than Pennsylvania that's all I have! but I like to layer my
stuff. or if I have a plain colored tee then I'll have match assessories, and
cartoon tees are cool. I have a hello kitty tee and I'm trying to get this
Cat in a Hat tee, lol. Besides that, sneakers and jeans. I really don't have
time to dress up, but when I do, I do get attention. Oh yeah now that
it just got cold in the A I can wear my sweaters, hoodies, and sweats
now. Old Navy is great for those items!
It really depends on my mood...I really wear alot of skirts now and shoes(sumfin' about some stilettos on a nice day). But on days that we have a real late practice, the next day i'm wearing some timbs, flip flops and sweats w/ some type of logo t-shirt!
I'm a senior now, so since freshman year, I've let go of quite a few fashion staples and trends:
1. High (3-4 inch) boots, shoes, sandles- Lower heels are both more comfortable, less tacky and work well from work to play. Flats (pointed- toe with accents) are very much in now!
2. Too tight jeans- a fitted pair that is dark denim looks more polished and can go from casual to work
3. Too bright clothing- Muted colors are better now and you can snazz up your look by wearing great funky accessories
4. Monogrammed everything- That's just ghetto...nobody cares if you have LV or GG on everything anymore....unprofessional too
5. Too much tacky gold- Time to leave the rings and the doorknockers at home
6. Long nails with designs or nail art- shorter, manicured/French tip is classy- you can jazz it up with a stud or two
7. Large hairdos or trendy cuts- Layers and razor cuts work well on long or short hair lengths
8. Wild haircolor (I've done it all)- femininely subtle highlights in the right shade of auburn, blond or brown work better
9. That suit with the skirt too much above the knee or those pants tight up the ****- Time for a tailored suit (or at least one that looks close to tailored. It's good to match a black jacket with some other piece such as grey or creme pants or a nice shift dress).
10. Too thin/high arched, obviously drawn-on eyebrows- Definitely a let-go must! Let those things grow back and get them waxed/tweezed to fit your natural contour...Use brow powder or pencil and an angled brush to fill in the blanks!
4. Monogrammed everything- That's just ghetto...nobody cares if you have LV or GG on everything anymore....unprofessional too
Girl yes! I thought I was the only one who felt that way. I am so sick of this trend of giving designers free advertisement! If you want to impress someone get the Gucci without all the logos . . . you will find that those items are 2-3 times more expensive.
