With so many soro's out there, how do you choose?..... Posted on 08-10-2004
Logic

Before anything can I please say DON'T BE MEAN TO ME!! I'm just trying to find some stuff out, yes I'm type young, and yes I am still in High School. I'm looking at schools and whatnot right now, still haven't really narrowed down a list but I'd love to go to an HBU. Since I knew what a soro was I always wanted to join one when I got to college. As I got older and started finding out some of the names, and a little (very little i'm sorry to say) more about them I'm like "How is a girl supposed to chose?" I don't have like family to ask because I'll be the first in my family to attend an actual university. Its hard to find out honest information because (NO OFFENSE!!!) most of the sites I've been to don't really tell you what the organization is about. And what they do tell is of course one sided because they want people to join. The only person I've been able to ask is my step teacher at this college bound program I go to at St.John's University (she's a Zeta) but we never really had time to sit down and talk about it. SOOOO what I'm asking for are some honest answers as to what most soro's are about or a link to a site that will actually tell me what they're about. Whatever info yall can give me would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. Once again THERE IS NO NEED FOR RUDE COMMENTS OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, I'M JUST ASKING A QUESTION

each sorority has their philanthropy and you can usually find that on the national website... Umm.. while doing your research, look at websites from different chapters.. they usually give you a very good explanation... so... go to www.greekpages.com/org click on A  Alpha Kappa Alpha  lots of chapter sites click on Delta (can't find the symbol right now.. its an equilateral triangle) Delta Sigma Theta click on Z  Zeta Phi Beta click on Sigma (looks like a sideways M... before the T and after the P) Sigma Gamma Rho I'll be back w/ more stuff......

When you get to your college of choice...you just have to sit back and observe the different organizations on your campus. Not everyone knows what they want to "pledge" before they get to college. Sometimes you just have to get to know people and talk to them about the organization and what they stand for. From there you will be able to make a sound decision on a sorority.

Yeah.. taggin on to that, the college you might want to go to might not have the sorority you might want to join.. and or they might be on suspension... there are ways to get around that predict a ment if you really want to pledge, but first make sure you know WHERE you want to go and WHAT major you want to do... it helps to narrow down the possiblities....

Here are some of the national sites of all the soros... www.aka1908.com www.deltasigmatheta.org www.zphib1920.org www.sgrho1922.org These are all the national websites of these sororities...Im not sure if you have visited them yet...But hopefully you will find wut you are looking for in determining what sorority you think would be best for you and then you can research that specific sorority more in depth.
