what's good in the neosoul world? i know i can't be the only neosoul lover on this board!!!!! so let's talk about em'...
i guess i kinda sparked this because i was listening to some Les Nubians today
I absolutely luv neo-soul now. In high school i never really cared for it much but now i am so into it. I even plan on opening a neo-soul/jazz club somewhere. I like to listen to to jazz and neo-soul sometimes because it helps me wind down and relax....
Neo-Soul and Soul is what I mainly listen to. It's really good for relaxing and I just seem to appreciate it more than other genres. I need to find a neo-soul/jazz club in ATL, cause all I ever hear about are regular clubs.

there's a club called Tarazu's or something like that...never been but i heard it was real mellow...they do spoken word there too...it's another joint out here but i can't call it

I'll look that up when I get back to ATL.
Whats good. There is also a club down there that caters to us too. Its called the Apache Cafe (I'm sure you've heard of it). Its kinda like ATL's urban hang suite, especially on the right night. I went on this one night last spring when Erykah Badu came thru to ATL, and the night before her concert her and Floetry's bands were in there jammin, it was tight and the vibe was great.
Jazzy what school you go to? If its anywhere get at me (don't worry lol, not tryin to holla lol). I'm part of something called the Dark Tower Project that is well connected with these type of things on campus or in ATL in general.
As for Bilal... yeah that nucca takin tooo long. I was just listening to Sometimes a couple of minutes ago (in fact it was while i was posting another subject in this forum lol).
Yo... whats good with NEOSOUL becoming this catch all umbrella now. Excluding its forerunners (Badu, Jilly from Philly, Musiq, etc), its losing its essence... that new white girl from englad or whatever... she's Neo Soul now? Whats really good.
and yeah... Les Nubians need to stop doing Cameo's like Bilal and make an album again. I also want to see the lesser knowns out of philly get some play too like the Jazzyfatnastees... Unconventional ways... that song was that sh!t.
^^^Jazzyfatnasties...that's the bizniz. One of the group members went to my highschool. And I believe the white lady you're referring to is Joss Stone. I kinda like her tho. I'm feelin that cut "Spoiled". Whether folks wanna classify her as Neo-soul is debatable. But hey, even the term "neo-soul" itself is debatable
As for some good peeps...i think that Lyfe Jennings is wassup. I remember when he was on amatuer nite on Apollo and just kept winning every week. I would watch every Sat. just so i could hear "Cry". Glad he got signed.
Everbody has jumped on the whole John Legend wagon by now so i'll just leave that one alone.
