so while talking to the guy i was talking about in a former post, i told him in a wild fit of rage I did not like him because he had no flavor and he sickened me....it was the truth and i shall stick by what i say...then he replied "oh so you want a ****"
no i do not want a ****, but since I am a black woman I do want a guy with a lil flavor and soul....me and a mini-bryant gumble cant work, why cant guys understand this....if you wear a suit everyday and its not for work then no we cannot work, if youve lived in the white suburbs all your life and then are scared to go in the "black section" of town, then hell naw we cant work since i lived in the black section of town, if you think soul food is unhealthy and ghetto no we cannot work, if you smile in white people's faces all day and even if they insult you, you do nothiing but grin and laugh then no you are through....or if you think dancing to hip hop and r&B is wrong and that it is only for 'UNCULTURED" PEOPLE ("HIS ACTUAL QUOTE")....NAW SON YOURE THROUGH!.
i know i always rant that there are not enough sucessful, intelligent black guys.....but then again I cant handle a guy who is black on the outside white on the inside and a white person has more flavor then him...im not saying he should be a **** but he has to know when to be "black"....or he has to know a little about his culture and take a little pride in his black heritage...i just want a guy who can be both comfortable in a black barbershop and in a law firm, unlike the "**** or oreo"...a "cultured" man who can identify with both white and black perspectives......is that so wrong??
no, that is not wrong Shoya poo. And i'm glad that homedude finally got the point. Sad he had to hear that you're not feeling him the hard way, but it was gonna come out either way. But um, yeah i feel u. Not cool for homedude to misconstrue "soul" for "**** appeal". BIG difference. And u have every right to desire a man that can understand you u on various levels. Every person wants someone who can understand their struggles, beliefs, and goals. That's human nature.
Just sit tight Shoya. You'll get ya prince . These dudes just don't know what kinda sistah their missing out on, but when they figure it out...they'll be like "DAYUM...where have u been all my life baby?"

Picturing dude holding up a voice recorder... "Carleton's Log... just messin with ya...!
Seriously though, there is a difference between the two. "****" is usually a negative term - meaning someone unclassy and disrespectful. You're just looking for someone laid back, not uptight and fun to chill with.
A lot of Brothas have this dilemma - having to fit into two different worlds. Much of it is where they come from or how they were raised. A Brotha who grew up in a mainly White, upper class environment is going to have more tendencies to fit in there than someone who was brought up in a mainly Black, middle class environment. Not that one is better than the other, just different behaviors and attitudes.
The smartest Brothas are the ones who know when to turn it on and turn it off, who can wear their Brooks Brothers suit to work and handle it like a professional but still come back home, chill with his boys and watch the game or throw down a game of spades without a second thought.
Luckily for you, the best place to find dudes like that is at a HBCU. 8)
Best of luck... Holla!
