First off, I want to let you know that I'm just an amateur when it comes to writing poetry. I wrote this poem one night in May of last year, the time when I was supposed to study for my finals.  Anyway, this is the first poem that I've written as an adult, and it's titled...
Making It Through
I wonder how I’ll make it through sometimes
With life’s hardships and circumstances
But I don’t worry about it
There’s peace and harmony that awaits me.
Through one sight I see ugliness, bitterness,
Oppression, hatred, and death
But through another sight I see love, fellowship,
Fullness and life.
Who has to remind me that life is tough?
All I can really say is I am thankful
That God is beside me
Near me
Close to me
Maturing me
Guiding me
Giving me inner peace
More than what I could ever imagine.
I’m going to keep living
‘cause He’s not done with me yet
I’m gonna keep living
I’m only human, but I’m still doing my best.
I’m still making it through
