i figured i had been on here long enough with the name "prettypoet". it's time for me to put up or shut up. this piece is still super rough but tell me what you think.
her diet started off innocently enough
yogurt instead of a donut for breakfast
salad at lunch
good things for dinner
like carrots potatoes and baked fish
food that would make her small enough
for his attention
he ignored her still
soon it was
half a yogurt
no lunch
soup or salad for dinner
she vowed to be his homecoming queen
deserving of roses and small bears holding hearts
her friends wanted to know why
she wouldn't go have pizza with them
they wanted to know why
her skin stretched tight across her face
and she fit her younger sister's jeans
she never said
she never told anyone
when she started skipping breakfast altogether
only nibbling at lunch to avoid being questioned
eating dinner only if her mother was home
he took notice long enough to say
"what happened? i used to admire how you weren't pencil thin"
he said this
before leaving her standing
dying
it was too late now
the way she had been
was better appreciated than the way
she had assumed
he wanted her to be
here's a real short one
she thought of stars whenever he kissed her
chocolate stars scattered across a caramel sky
and with each gentle pressing of his lips
onto her spine, she shivered
and felt stars winking
honest opinions, por favor
