BIG Morehouse/Howard Question??? Posted on 02-05-2004
ygidorPdrawoH

I am proud to say that I have been admitted to two of the greatest HBCUs: Morehouse College and Howard University. I got tuition from Morehouse, and I am real hyped about attending there. I spoke to someone at Howard and I can get tuition, fees, room, and board from HU. The thought of not going to Morehouse seems almost unimaginable to me now that I've been anticipating it for quite some time, but I know what my bank statement says, and it's telling me to go to Howard and pay less. So, as for the question, Morehouse and Howard prospects, students, and alumni, tell me why your institution is better or worst than the other. (as always, other opinions welcome)

Personally I don't think you can go wrong with either choice, but it really depends on what you're studying (i.e. Morehouse might have a better ??? program than Howard and vise versa). You should really try talking to some students and/or faculty in the department that you'll be enrolling in at both institutions to see what they have to offer. Either way, you're destined for greatness Good luck and God bless! Howard U c/o 2007

Well, I want to go to a school that is not too large and one which's average class size is not very large (~40 max.) I'm planning to major in Afro-American Studies or Health Management, and I am going to become a Public Health Administrator and I would also like to research some of the health desparities that affect the black community. Thanx for the suggestions, keep tham coming.

Howard has one of the best Allied Health institutions in the country. With health management, you will find that you will get your wishes for the class sizes (except for math and english depending on what time of day you take the class). Howard also has a gradute school of allied health, and if you attend howard your chances are greatly enlarged in getting into the grad school (which I would guareentee). In the particulay field of Health management, they are focusing on offereing a 5 year masters program (3 /12 years undergrad, 1 1/2 years grad all rolled up into one) to be offerd to students within the next one to two years. Also, with afro American studies, if you come to Howard you will also be able to study oversees over the summer in different parts of africa in connection with the Ralph J. Bunche international student services and health services on campus. If I can be of anymore help, you cna PM me or email me.... (By the way, Afro Studies has a grad program here at howard too...adn if you come here, I really suggest you meet Professor Carr...he is the best and deepest afro american professor I have ever met in my life...Oh, and you can join the South Carolina Club )

Like someone said earlier both schools are great and you really can't go wrong with either one. But money talks and if you don't have the funds hit up the one that gives u the most money. But my personal opinon is that HU "The Mecca" is the best choice.
