JILL SCOTT WAS **** Posted on 12-14-2004

From trauma to triumph, the soulful Jill Scott shares in an exclusive interview with “Sister 2 Sister” (S2S) publisher Jamie Foster Brown how an on-again off-again love affair turned tragically into ****. “He attacked me,” she says of the ordeal. “I mean, I’m down for getting buck wild just like anybody else, but this wasn’t that. It was ripping my clothes off, me saying, ‘Wait! No! Don’t! Stop! What are you doing?! Don’t do that!’” Scott also remembers, torn tights and all, “… smiling on the way home thinking he wants me so bad that he had to do what he did. That’s what I thought because I loved him and I wanted him to love me back.” In another exclusive interview, S2S gets the scoop on Fantasia and her life after winning the number one spot on “American Idol,” and on her new album, “Free Yourself.” Fantasia recalls the moment it was announced she was the new “American Idol”: “Wow, that had to be the best day of my life. I felt like my life had changed. No more struggling. I lifted my hands up and I was like, ‘Wow, I made it! I did it!’” “I just began to cry because you know there were a lot of people behind me … I was crying so much that I wasn’t able to say thank you to the people for helping make my dream to come true.” The up-and-coming star also dishes about her famous cousins, singers K-Ci and Jo-Jo, and about learning to love herself and her appearance. Also, get the low-down on what domestic diva Martha Stewart has been doing inside “Camp Cupcake”—everything from her daily routine to meals. A source tells S2S that while Martha doesn’t have the privacy of home, she does have some comforts in her 25-person unit, like feather pillows and a bathroom with a tub that she shares only with her roommate—an African-American woman who’s also in for a white-collar crime. This month’s edition also includes an exclusive look inside the double wedding of New Edition members Ralph Tresvant and Ricky Bell, Fabolous spitting real talk about his false arrests and his lawsuit against the city of New York, and Dr. Jeff exploring why some single women are turned on by married men. The January issue hits newsstands this week. (Click Jill Scott's picture to see the cover.)
