The Baltimore City Teaching Residency (BCTR) is a competitive initiative of the Baltimore City Public School System that recruits, selects and trains outstanding professionals and college graduates to become teachers in the schools that need them the most. Residents will become part of the 2005-2006 school year Cohort, charged to raise student achievement. We are looking for those individuals interested in teaching in all subject areas, especially middle and high school math, science, and special education. Following an intensive, rigorous summer training institute, residents will enter the classroom in the fall while taking classes to obtain their teaching certification and have the option to earn their Master's degree at The Johns Hopkins University.
Residents receive a teacher's salary, benefits, up to 75% subsidized tuition and the chance to make a difference in the life of a child – don't pass this opportunity up.
