the BREADWINNER of the family... Posted on 03-31-2005
La

Can you still feel like a man if you married a woman who made more money than you, or if you married a career woman who didnt make as much as you from the beginning, but climbed up the ladder of opportunity, got several promotions throughout the years and is now making more than you...and you are still making the same amount when yall first married.Would you be okay with it?? As men would you be comfortable with your wife being the breadwinner in the household???

I think it'd depend for me if the reason she was making more money was because my job was terrible and i was being a scrub or if she just had a real good job with a good salary. If I was being a scrub, I'd definately get my ass up and do whatever i can do to fix it, but if she was just doing her thing I wouldn't mind, I'd be happy for her. My father and mother used to be like this in fact.

^^^ Yeah mine also. There was a time when my mom was the breadwinner. Not by much more than my father, but he didnt have a problem with supporting my mother when she was bringing home the bigger check.

My momma makes $2, 000 more than my father or something like that. She tells me that sometimes it bothers him. Either way it goes the money is to support the family.

Cosign. As long as we both successful as far as reaching are full potential goes then amount of money bein made ain't a factor.

Me, personally, I think I would feel sort of weird making more than my man. I'm old-fashioned and I think the man should be head of household and that includes making more than me. I also like the feeling of a "manly, man". Most men, admittedly or not, feel like punks if their woman is making more than them(unless they are a gigolo or something) and I don't want something so small like that, cause a big rift in our relationship. In reality it does. I mean, some situations you just control and where his path leads and where my path leads, cause you really can't say "oh can you make my pay higher cause I want my man to make more than me" but like demmeri said, he might have to up his game a lil.

^I know some people might agree with my views but that's just the way I would feel comfortable as a wife and lover.
