Gettin' back into school.....and confused.

Ok. I was on academic suspension for the fall 2004 semester, but would've been allowed to return for Spring 05 (current semester, about to be over). I didn't go because I didn't feel 100% ready. The reason why I got on academic suspension in the first place was lack of interest + a full time job (with benefits). Plus, I had to "clean & dry" some stuff outta my life (long, complicated story). I wouldn't have been able to do that, work, and go to school. Keeping the lights on and eating edible food is much more important to me that taking classes. Now, I gotta itch to go back, but I dont wanna go back as a full-time student....I kinda wanna 'ease' back into it becuz I'm scared that I'm gonna get the same result. Stuff seems REAL hopeless for me in the classroom, tho....If I go back to Alabama A&M, I'll be there for the next 4 YEARS because I only have 11 (eleven) TOTAL HOURS with a sad tearjerking GPA. But, I dont know whether or not I should go back because I'm already in debt up to my eyeballs, as far as student loans go....and I refuse to owe somebody $$ + X% interest for the rest of my life. I kinda wanna pay it outta pocket so I'll actually feel obligated to do good....but I'm scared it's gonna be a waste of money. I thought about selling 'under the table' items to pay for school, OR to pay my way through life and get school loans/grants so I dont have to do any real 'work'. What should I do?

do not do that!!! I wish I can tell you what to do, but all i can say is look at all (ALL) of your options and pray about it. I'll be praying for your wisdom because I dont know what is best for you. Only you do.....

I only sat out a semester (not even a semester) but right now I'm part time. Do what I did...see if AAMU has a payment plan. I refuse to take out loans and I could only afford to take 2-3 classes at my school, so I took what I could afford. And yes, I'm in a situation like you...I got 4 years ahead of me of school, possibly 4 1/2...because I left Hampton with NO credits. So I feel ur pain...see what payment options AAMU has...and good luck!

Welcome to the CLUB..Kool!!! Eventhough, I have yet to be suspended from school due to academics..I came close but was able to turn a corner!! I will tel you now, it's going to be even harder than it was the first time around. It's just not about being "ready" for school. It's more so about making sacrifices. Your work at Alabama A&M should be your 9 to 5!! When you start back take easy elective courses to raise your GPA. I mean the kind of courses that YOU have a large interest in. Take 3-4 of them and you should see yourself looking at a 3.0 GPA for the semester!! I lost a lot of interest early in my sophmore year but since then I've learned school is what you make it. You gotta enjoy this sh*t to succed.

Community college isnt any easier.. :???: He'll be taking the same courses in community college that he would at A&M. He'll get more one on one time with the pofessors but he can still get the same attention at A&M if he seeks it...

Yea I was talking in terms of price. If you want easier maybe you need to sit out, because nothin worth having comes to you easily.... College is a challenge... maybe not for everyone, but for most.... Maybe you are not up for the challenge. OR MAYBE YOU NEED TO STOP BEIN LAZY... Thats the harsh reality.

Eh, not really a shortcut...just a way to save money....
2 years and thousands of $'s less? I'd call that a shortcut. Maybe it depends on the person's situation. Maybe I should go to a 2 year school. I tell you what, tho....I aint making $30,000 a year for the rest of my life. Flat out refuse.
