Okay lovely people of HBCU's here are my imputs on D.C, Howard and everything in between(if u care to know):
D.C-
* I'll have to un-learn how to properly drive because it seems no one knows how to drive
*pedestrians dont stop at red lights i guess and walk slowly across on green
*too too too much traffic everywhere
*bold **** bums from D.C
*houses that are conjoined and painted in extreme colors (whats that about?)
*it'll take some adjusting
Howard-
*a tad bit unorganized especially when it came to financial aid time
*beautiful people. honestly almost all the girls looked like models and a lot of attractive men also
*loved the stores by howard. one i especially would love to shop at is up against the wall
*a lil bit ghetto
*i didnt talk to anybody which sucked.
Overall-
Im lookin forward to the experience, if anybody who reads this goes to Howard or will be going please respond with ur own views on the subject
hey whats up ! :-) I am thinking about applying to Howard neXt year but my heart is really set on Spelman at the moment but in the event that I dont get accepted to Spelman, Hampton and Howard are my next best choices... thankX for the info ^ lol ... For more information you may want to try the Howard forum ? if your already in it sorrie lol :-) Good luCk Ooh yeah are you going to any HOward summer programs or anything ? Were you accepted to Howard ?
^^^Yup i'm accepted and paid for already. i wish i could go to the summer thingy but the deadline passed. plus i realized i'll really miss CT (didnt know that was possible) so i'll really enjoy this summer home. Good luck on Spellman though

Where are you from, because this applies to every city
I cosign on everything that chance said minus the thing about bold bums cause I seen some way bolder than that here....
Since I'm on the subject of bums tho...D.C's are pretty clean and well feed compared to others I seen...
It's a real clean city. Nice public transportation and considering the parking capacity it would be wise not to bring a car...
*p.s. don't eat or drink on the subway cause you'll get locked up no joke
Downtown is a real strict place...They are the most clean, precatious, organized city I've ever been in
Around Howard...
I like all the stores they have
I like the school spirit and all that stuff. If I'm payin this much money I better be able to be proud of somethin :-)
I hear the cafe food ain't too good although when I tried the omlets they was on point compared to every other cafe I been to. The punchout looks cool and a good alternative from soph to senior year.
The people around seem cool for the most part
As far as financial aid goes it is disorganization and all but there is a reason why as many people go there as they do despite negatives.....
I look forward to going for the next 4 years..maybe 6 or 8...That's my input tho...
I went to the open house yesterday too. The open house to me was pretty boring except for the band and the people in the audience thinking they were in church when the gospel choir sang.....
But I still like the school. every other person on campus had a Howard shirt on or the sweat pants or the hat or just something that said "Howard University."
The people ON campus are mad nice... people saying hi to you for no reason (we don't get that here in NY)
The AREA is a different story, my sister went off campus to get some food and when she cam back she was like "'Tasha, There are tooo much crackheads around here!" All I could do was laugh 'cause its true...
But anyway I WILL be up in there next year c/o '09!!
Yah!!! we'll be in the same class(09!!! what!!!)Im mad i didnt get to see the dorms though. Our class well the people i saw yesterday seemed pretty on point. i cant wait to meet everybody
Its ashame we didnt get to meet. if u went back to new york im sure u experienced the traffic in New jersey like we did(it sucked) Maybe its just me thats not used to traffic like that.
Anyways. To everybody else. I didnt make this a all negative thread its just some things different from where i come from (Connecticut) which i'll have to get used to because making that transformation from small town to big city might not be easy as it seems. And i did like alot of things and despite everything else, I'm going to Howard and look forward to it.
I went to open house on the 15th
and I loved it......... nothing was boring to me because a lot of it was information that was helpful
But to whoever said they wanna shop at one of the stores near HOWARD...
food for thought.....
If its close to HOWARD and easily accessible... you're not gonna be the only one up in there........which means....more than likely you and a bunch of people on campus might end up looking JUST A LIKE
