need a man's advice... Posted on 05-31-2005

recently i've been talking to this guy and things are starting to get serious. The only problem is he hates the way i dress. I play basketball, so most of the time when he sees me i am either going to or coming from practice, and i have on bball shorts and a tank top... when we got out i dress nicely, but he expects me to dress up everyday, whether i play ball or not... it's cool that he wants to see his possible future girlfriend looking nice, but is it so wrong for me to dress casual when i spend so much time on the court? Now he's saying that he wont take the relationship any further unless i change my look. It's not like i wear dirty sweats and don't do my hair or anything! what do you guys think? would you date someone who doesn't wear skirts and heels EVERYDAY?

he may just want you to look nicer. YOu know guys like to show their girls off!!!But he has to realize that heels and skirts may not be the "REAL YOU". If he really likes you, he should respect you and like you for who you are. As long as you look clean and not sweaty and ish then it shouldn't be a problem. It seems like he just wants you to dress a lil nicer. I would say try it but not all the time, just to see if you like it. If you don't like it, then tell him. and if he acts like he don't wanna talk no more b/c of that, then drop him.

A man should want you for who you are, not for what he believes he can make you up to be. That he wants you to dress nice is a preference... it means that he either believes in the value of being clothed well or doesnt want to be seen with a girlfriend that dresses down. If it matters that much to him, hes not a catch at all and Id suggest you keep fishing. Ive got friends that only want a girl that dresses down... then again, Im kinda punk-rock so *shrug* (come on guys, get on ya jobbs....Male forum)

Okay I know Im not a male, BUT I do have a comment. Is he going to buy you a new wardrobe? If not, he is really asking you to make change that would greatly affect you financially. Then you have to ask yourself if he is worth you being uncomfortable, and maybe BROKE, everyday. If he is worth, go ahead and listen to him. While you're at it, ask him to make a sacrifice as well...
