Life Stories....

I was born on October 8th, 1984 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville Alabama. I went to private school from kindergarten up until the end of 9th grade. All my fam/friends were in public school, and I missed out on a LOT of stuff. I was always a well-mannered kid while in grade school. I graduated from J.O. Johnson High School in 2002, and enrolled at Alabama A&M University shortly afterward. I originally majored in Psychology....but I quickly changed it to Telecommunications. My first two years of college were filled with too much fun. I had so much fun that it got me into too many close calls. I almost became a father, binge drank on weekends, and had a VERY close brush with death during the spring of 2004. While working at my 2nd Taco Bell, I met a local news anchor who put me onto a job at her TV station in September of 2003, and I've been there working the 4am-Noon shift since then. I've learned so much stuff about TV production, photography, broadcasting, journalism, creative writing, and special event coordinating while there. Working there has been a gift and a curse. It was a special opportunity that I couldn't pass up, but my grades suffered from being awake 20 or more hours a day. I was placed on Academic Suspension by AAMU for the Fall 2004 semester, and would be cleared for re-admission to the university for the Spring 05 semester. I didn't. The plan is to re-enroll this fall, and if all goes well, my work schedule will change by then. A new, and better job with the government, is also possible. Stay Tuned. Fellow HBCUconnect fam...tell your story. How did you get where you are? Where do you want to be headed? It doesn't have to be as long as mine....but tell your story.

I was born in Dallas, Texas, November 5, 1984, to the parents of Peggy Kirkwood and Willie Terry. I enrolled at R. L. Thornton Elementary School in 1990 and finished my tenture at that elementary school in 1996. I was a well-mannered child, while mischevious at times, and very creative. I enrolled at T. W. Browne Middle School, finished there, and soon after applied to the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet School: School of Govt, Law & Law Enforcement(a high school) and was accepted. There I discovered that I didn't want to be a lawyer. I also built up my resume through this high school because of the internships and co-op provided. On my journey to higher learning, I applied to Howard University and Hampton University. Because my SAT score was too low for the science program at Howard I wasn't accepted. I was devastated, more because I only applied to two schools and I really wanted to attend college. As fate would have it, I attented a college fair hoping Hampton was there so that I could be accepted in person. They were there and saw my accolades and honors and accepted me on the spot. I was so excited and love it so much that I am a Pirate. God's plan for me was to go to Hampton. I am now Junior, through the grace of God, and majoring in Entrepreneurship. I hope, one day, to open a salon/spa strictly for men and own a couple of fanchises. The best is yet to come....

This is a good post, I'll try to make it short. I was born on Oct 3rd 1984 in B'ham, Al. I came two months early and was born prematurely. I spent numerous days in the hosptial due to a lot of complications. A lot of them I can't even name, but I suffered from breathing and minor heart problems. After months of being in the hospital, my mommy was finally able to bring me home. (I think I was like six months, not sure) Fast Forward, by the time I started Kindergarten I had completely recovered from all the complications I had as a baby, except for the minor heart mumur which I still have today. I attended two different elementary schools. The first one I attended my grades were something terrible, and then when I changed schools in the fourth grade, I became an honor student from then on, which made my mother proud of me. *smile* During my seventh grade year, I decided I wanted to become a doctor. *Fast Forward to high school* I began my freshmen year of high school in 1999. I think this was my best year of high school by far. My juinor year I became a part of the cheerleading team and continued to partake in that throuhout my senior year along side of other school activities. I also started looking into certain colleges I wanted to attend. I applied to A&M, Tuskegee, Auburn in Montgomery, UA, and Stillman. Tuskegee was my top choice, but they cost a grip and I really wasn't getting any financial aid from them, except for a university grant, but that wasn't going to help much. So Tuskegee was out of the question for me. I graduated from high school on May 21st, 2003 with a 3.6 GPA and a advanced diploma. Because of me being stubborn and picky about where I wanted to attend school, I waited to late and ended up at Stillman. Not saying this in a bad way, but it was my last on my list of choice of schools, and also my last resort if I wanted to get away from home. August 2003, I began my first year at Stillman College majoring in Bio-Premed. Survived the finanical aid and registration headaches, met and became friends with some great people, and became nearly like best friends with my roommate. I roomed with her again my sophomore year, and now I'm about to be a junior. Shout outz to the class of 07' Now I'm in the process of transferring to a PWI because of my major and because it's cheaper. I still got love for all my HBCU's though. I hope to attend Meharry Medical School in Nashville, TN when I graduate. hmm that didn't end up being short at all, but oh well...

Born July 12, 1988 to Helen & Reginald as the youngest of 6 kids. I've grown up in Dayton Ohio. I've attended Catholic school my whole life. I began at St Rita's (pre-school), Precious Blood (K-8), Chaminade-Julienne (9-present). My parents separated when I was 6 and later divorved when I was 8 due to my mom's affair with another man who is now my stepdad. I've been a cheerleader since 8th grade & it's something I'm good at but I plan to end it after I graduate from HS. I'm more interested in Hip-hop dance. I got my first job on my 16th birthday at Waffle House & I make good $$ there but I plan on finding a new job for the summer. I got pregnant during the middle of my Junior year & had a miscarriage but soonafter met my boyfriend who I have been & still am with today after 5 months and who has been there for me through alot. I'm now in my senior year in high school & ready to graduate. I plan on attending an HBCU (of course) and my top choices are Spelman, Howard, or Clark.

I was born Tristan Blackman to Daryl Davis and Krista Blackman (they got married when I was 1) on November 6, 1984 (one day after Miss Megan Jerai I see) at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. My father was in the military so we later moved to Austin, Texas. I have an older brother, Duriel, and a younger sister, D'Llisha. We moved back to Nashville just in time for me to start kindergarten at Alex Green Elementary where I completed K-4th. I got my name changed to Trista Davis officially at 7 years old. I left and went to Brick Church Middle on a scam (used my grandmother's address) until I messed it up when I was honored by our mayor. I had done some art work for a museum and put my real address on the entry form I gave to my teacher. I had to leave and go to the "hood school" as we called it back then,Cameron Middle. I got bad and started cutting classes. This trend didn't stop until I got in trouble for throwing a pencil at a teacher in 7th grade. I was accepted to Martin Luther King Academic Magnet for the Health Sciences and Enigineering (top HS in Tennessee) for 7th-12th grade. It was here and several TSU camps where I found out I didn't want to be a computer engineer and decided to pursue law. I ranked top 10% out of the state of TN's class of 2003 (came with going to the school) and got accepted to Spelman, Clark Atlanta, UT-Chattanooga, and Alabama A&M. I went with A&M and received a full academic scholarship. I am currently a junior with plans to be an entertainment or a corporate attorney. I am active on campus as a SGA class rep, NAACP, Pre Law Society and Residential Council member. I crossed into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. this past Spring as well and will serve as Delta Delta Chapter's Vice President this upcoming school year. Sorry its so long, but I am home alone on a Saturday
