This is for all the afro wearing peeps. How did yall get started in growing yall hair out, I mean did you just let it grow out a few weeks after u got a haircut, or did u get it shaped up into a mini mini afro first? And wats some ways to make it gro faster?
i jus let it grow.........and it grew.......be prepared for they **** stage....then i got braids......now im gettin locs

When I first started growing my hair out (summer between 10th and 11th grade), it got bad for a little bit. Then I finally got braids in 11th grade (around xmas maybe?? I dunno...memory's starting to fade). I didn't cut it until my senior prom...and it was REALLY REALLY long. Almost down to my shoulders.

It took me about 2 months...Yeah.
I got my first braids a little on the early side, but it started growin' REAL FAST after that.
I used to LOVE taking my hair down and lettin' it blow in the wind. Then I'd go wash it and blowdry it real real good....Ahh. I miss my hair!
The cool part was falling asleep sitting between a girls legs while she was braiding it.
Those were the days. I think I might grow it all back one day tho. I used to go damn near a month with the same braids, but I'd keep a du-rag on for like, almost a whole week (sometimes two weeks). Them sucka's used to ITCH like all hell, too.
You'd be better off just washing it twice a week (with some BLACK FOLKS shampoo), and using some good BLACK FOLK hair-grow grease. I used to use the kind of grease with the little flakes in em. My hair grew to be THIS BIG real quick.
