So I got this question from the latest VIBE magazine...and the choices were: Tupac, Will Smith, Queen Latifah, Mos Def, Ludacris, DMX, and Ice CUbe.
Who you think made the best transition into acting and why?
I'll be back with mine later....
Mos Def
Eventhough he was a actor before he get famous as a rapper..
He's very talented as a actor but he doesnt have that Ghetto flare that attracts people..Ice Cude or Ludacris can..
Will Smith is pretty damn good too but he's been acting for over 10+ years
Will Smith has definitely made a name for himself as an actor, and a versatile one at that. He has made his mark on Hollywood. So he is #1 on the list.
In 2nd, Ima go with LL Cool J....LL has done a NUMBER of roles, and different roles...He just hasnt been the ghetto homeboy of every movie. He may play alot of supporting roles, but it doesnt take away from the fact that he is talented and grown into his craft as an actor. I think LL is underrated and deserves more play in the black acting game than he does..
3rd of course goes to Cube...Now granted, Cube has kinda type-casted himself in playing alot of the same type of characters, but I think there is a growth and maturity in his being an actor. And plus he has been doing alot of the behind the scenes work with producin and writing movies. He has created his own movie production company CUBE VISION which has been successful so I gotta respect him for not just being the actor, but being involved in alotta of the other behind the scenes stuff with movies...
Cube. He's been acting almost as long as he's been rapping.
I dont give a damn what NObody says.....Boyz N' Da Hood was his best role. He will NEVER get to play the jheri curled gangsta like that again.
