Now, we've all followed the great rap battles over the years - from LL vs. Kool Moe Dee, to Big vs. Pac, to Nas vs. Hov, to what seems to be the biggest in today's hip-hop, The Game vs. 50 Cent.
My question is this: To you, what matters most going in a battle - the amount of recors that cat has sold, the $$ they got, or what goes on wax? I only say that I think people judge battles based on how popular a rapper is, and not how skillful they are these days.
Perfect example: Nelly vs. KRS One.
Now, C'mon. Who do you reallythink took that? But I hear so many times "Well, Nelly better than KRS cause he sold 9 million."
What's your take on that?

I can't even really consider Nelly a rapper. His music is past commercial. As far as big rap battles go, the only thing that matters is what goes on wax. Canibus vs. LL was a legitamate battle because of this. Big vs. Pac was mainly indirect shots by Big and direct shots by pac, but that wasn't really a rap battle. It was more like real street beef.
All in all, what's put out on albums, and mostly underground, matters the most.

i love nelly and krs-1 but yea i get wut ur saying
i go by Wax, but i think many ppl don't listen 2 a person if they don't sell records so thatz really y u can't win mainstream over as a nonseller
Radio played KRS-1's joint like 2 or 3 times compared 2 how Nelly made that remix that was played alot more heavily so if u don't get ur own music u may not even know krs did anything in that battle
idk i'm rambling
I like mixtapes
I make my own opinions
N i consider myself a rap fan so its wuteva

G Unit vs. D-Block
Some of these are no brainers. However, I know one in particular that will have a debate.
So, wit that being said, Ima give you a list. You pick your winners:
50 Cent vs. Ja Rule --> ja rule said better stuff than 50 but 50 had better songz thanx 2 collabos
Nelly vs. KRS-One - when he said st. louis didn't even like nelly and all nelly could say is no one remembers ur name on a remix it was clear krs took it
Canibus vs. LL Cool J - thats tough all LL did was come back the whole time...i don't care i love LL *temp throws away hip hop cred*
The Game vs. Joe Budden - Joey Murked all of g-unit easy in this scenario nobody can really touch joe
Jadakiss vs. Beanie Sigel - it was close but i feel beanie sonned kiss like the soda (close 2 a draw but forcing a choice)
Nas vs. Jay-Z - again this'll upset ppl but i liked takeover more than ether cuz takeover was real stuff and i thought ether didn't dig deep enough plus the memorable line factor (personally thought it a draw but forcing a choice)
Lil' Flip vs. T.I. - ni99a my money 2 big for a rubberband (T.I. is always taken out by one liners from ppl who aren't as good as him -->stay off the T I P of my di(k )
Roc-A-Fella vs. D-Block -- ???
The Game vs. Yukmouth - Game
The Young Gunz vs. Dutch & Spade -- ??? (don't care for the young gunz like that although they did bring it 2 game a lil on that free)
Cassidy vs. Freeway (for all those who saw the DVD....I know I did) - Cass Ripped them its his claim 2 fame no contest (now j-young ripped cass but i'll leave that alone)
50 Cent vs. The Game -->Game killin him right now
50 Cent vs. Fat Joe --> Fat joe had the better song
50 Cent vs. Shyne --> didn't really go at him sent lloyd banks
50 Cent vs. Jadakiss --> everyone on dblock murked that child wit a problem
G Unit vs. D-Block -->dblock is shi++in on them
Some of these are no brainers. However, I know one in particular that will have a debate.
I tried 2 play some where i could argue for post count lol
50 Cent vs. Ja Rule - as much as I hate 50, he wont
Nelly vs. KRS-One - no contest
Canibus vs. LL Cool JThe Game vs. Joe Budden
Jadakiss vs. Beanie Sigel - it was close but jada took it
Nas vs. Jay-Z - Takeover is just crazy, and Superugly freestyle was hot
Lil' Flip vs. T.I. - u gotta hear the mixtapes to claim this one
Roc-A-Fella vs. D-Block - they both had they're equal blows, its a tie
The Game vs. Yukmouth - ??????? i have heard of Yukmouth but I haven't heard him dis Game
The Young Gunz vs. Dutch & Spade
Cassidy vs. Freeway - Part 1 and 2, Cassidy ****, even tho this is like a summer old
50 Cent vs. The Game - 15 min freestyle. . . . nuff said
50 Cent vs. Fat Joe - I dont like Fat Joe but ill give it to him
50 Cent vs. Shyne
50 Cent vs. Jadakiss
G Unit vs. D-Block - this was funny as hell
50 Cent vs. Ja Rule - Hey, hate him now, but u loved "Back Down" when it came out.
Nelly vs. KRS-One - No Brainer
Canibus vs. LL Cool J - Look, I know 'The Ripper Strikes Back' was ill, but alot of people never heard 'Rip the Jacker'....DESTROYED L on it!
The Game vs. Joe Budden - Never heard it...maybe I should check it out
Jadakiss vs. Beanie Sigel - Too close to call.
Nas vs. Jay-Z - As the man said, "There is NO coming back from Ether." He was right. Super **** was ****.
Lil' Flip vs. T.I. - I don't think no one really cared
Roc-A-Fella vs. D-Block - Same as Jada vs. Beanie
The Game vs. Yukmouth - First off, who has EVER acknowleged Yuk as anything in the West. Wasn't this dude in the South not too long ago? Second. On both diss songs, he did more yelling and insultin' (and sounding like a high pitched drama queen at that) than actual battling. Game's verse to him on '5 on it'...Game Over for Yuk.
The Young Gunz vs. Dutch & Spade - Not that D&S put up a good fight....they did. It just wasn't enough.
Cassidy vs. Freeway (for all those who saw the DVD....I know I did) - Like I said, I saw the DVD. Free got destroyed in the studio. Cass was killin him acapella, and Free asking for beats.
50 Cent vs. The Game - "300 Bars and runnin". Game may have single-handedly turned the hood against him with that.
50 Cent vs. Fat Joe - Joe doesn't battle rap. Shiid, he said that in the interview he did about "Piggy Bank" and when he did "My 44". But Joe spoke the truth, and that's what matters.
50 Cent vs. Shyne - For those who never heard "For the Record", Shyne just put him down. 50 can't say much about Shyne anyway....I mean, he did try to sign him to G Unit.
50 Cent vs. Jadakiss - C'mon now, i don't think ANYONE who's listened to either on anything would actually think 50 could f*ck wit Jada.
G Unit vs. D-Block - It's a 4-on-2 beatdown. Lloyd Banks is the only one who can lyrically hang wit any of 'em. Both 50 and that slop-**** hype man Tony Yayo (BTW - Have you EVER heard anybody banging his garbage album) only count for half-an-MC each, and Buck's got his legal issues, so he stayed out of it. Maybe if Mobb Deep decides to defend their new label, maybe it'll get interesting. For now, D-Block is circling the wagons on these clowns.
