When you GDI's say that you are doing research, what are some of the things that you are looking for HERE on HBCUconnect as opposed to the official site and individual chapter websites of various GLO's?
Wow... no one has replied yet so I guess I'll stick my neck out there (to possibly get chopped off :-D)
When I "do research" on hbcuconnect.com, it's mainly to see what NOT to do when pursuing interest for an organization. I think I've seen enough less learned individuals get hung out to dry for their questions/comments that could easily be learned by opening up The Divine Nine or doing a few Google searches on the organization at hand. Plus, I've corresponded with some really nice people.
I think I have a pretty good handle on almost all the BGLO's basic information, so coming here gives me an opportunity to learn the proper way to act.
I hope that made sense.
I basically learn what not to ask greeks, **** behavior for an aspirant, proper protocol, etc. Also to get a good laugh. I mean I can just sit and read through all these threads and understand that certain types of questions don't get answer and certain post get frowned upon and laughed at. I don't look to learn anything about a specific organization or Greek history on here. I use other resources for that.
When Ive done research it actually wasnt to find actual info on this site...Just to look out and read whatever insight a greek shares inside the forum...But most of my research has come from books, official websites, and a number of different chapter sites, and talking to older greeks I know who are more willing to talk to an aspirant verses a younger greek who I know wouldnt.

I am not really on Hbcu-connect for researching purposes, but moreso for entertainment...lol And this forum tends to be a little more entertaining than "The Yard" nowdays.
I do all my research outside of here (for example, when I spend time and write letters to members of the org I'm interested in... or when I visit their site... or talk to my aunts and cousins..)
We should have a sticky for highschoolers.. LOL... like a roll call/check-in.. but tell them EXACTLY what to put down... People will continue to run their mouths unless limits are put on what they can say..
4Xample, in greekpeeps (greekpeeps.proboards47.com), the site that LBF shamelessly plugs, and I also endorse, there is an aspirants only forum, and there is a format for checkin... I REALLY like that...

yep i do too
everything seems to run so smoothly over there
its like everyone in there has enough knowledge to know better
I wouldnt say that. Maybe they just really and honestly dont know any better.
I don't buy that.
They know how to log in and post.
Why couldn't they read through what has already been discussed?

You have to remember that just because YOU knew the correct protocol when you were an aspirant doesnt mean others will.
It's not about correct protocol it's about ignoring the information that is readily available.

I think its also more excusable for high schoolers who havent entered college yet not to know either.
Again, if they can log in and post.
They can log in and read, FIRST.

Simply because they are people just like you and I. There is a way to get across your point without being a " asshole " as you called yourself. I think kenya gets her point off very well without being, rude, condescening, and disrespectful. A technique others choose not to follow cause they enjoy being more harsh.
They are stupid people.
Not at all like me.
Generally, before I pose any question, I skim through a few pages of the forum to get a feel for the folks.
People who are sincere in their journey would do that FIRST.
Others may choose to refrain or censor themselves for whatever reason.
I'm gonna post the first thing that pops into my mind.
