Oh my god. (speechless). what in the world is this new york chick doing going to the dirrty south! no offense, i respect the artist, but I CAN'T STAND SOUTHERN MUSIC! I'm nyc born and raised, Jay-z , Biggie, Fat joe, mary J, lil' kim ..... and SLIM ****? I just can't see it! I went to baltimore, maryland for spring break(that's not even that far south!) and they played this stuff they call "CLUB" music. club music in NY in general usually refers to white people , rave party stuff so i was skeptical. boy was i wrong. in b-more club music is crunk music on speed! "put em' put em' put em' put em' put em' ho put em put em ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho put em ho!!!" what the hell is that?
Am I gonna have to hide Reasonable Doubt, Ready to Die, and My Life in a hole behind my FAMU apartment are does the south show mad love for da east coast? Just wanna kno cuz we damn sure don't be showing enough love to the dirrty south!lol!
lighten up a little bit, don't be so serious, just trying to start conversation damn. i'm just poking fun at the differences and what I can expect at famu coming from a ny chick. chill out and smile baby boy
in NY, southern music doesn't have that much respect because we consider ourselves the first to do it. i just wanted to know if you guys show us love down there or not, that's all.
^To answer your question, people down south listen to Jay Z, Biggie, etc, but because it's our culture, we listen to mostly "Down South".
Just like People from Chicago like house music, B-More & Jerzey like their type of club music, DC like Go-Go, & West Indians like Reggae, & Hispanics liking Reggaeton.
got cha. it seems like a dumb question (i know) but i know how people are where i live, my sisters boyfriend is getting into southern rap, and he deals with the consequences ya kno. i've never been down south so i was wondering if its that serious or not. music, whether you like it or not represents the person who listens to it. to some people here, its almost like he's rooting for the away team just by listening to a david banner or a slim ****, ya kno.

There isn't a competition. Don't feel you can't like the music just because the artist isn't from NY. It's easier to just let go, and enjoy the music and get crunk.
oh yeah, when u come down here especially states like fla u gon here majority southern crunk music in the club and on the radio. u gonna have to get used to it cuz i know if i went to school in NY i'd go crazy listenin to east coast music majority of the time. i hate when they play east coast music in the club cuz we really cant dance off it.

COSIGNS! I'm originally from NY (BROOKLYN BORN & RAISED!!) so I grew up on Biggie, Jay-Z, and a lot of dancehall/reggae b/c I'm West Indian and so are many other ppl in BK and whatever...but when I moved to NJ it was so strange for me b/c they listened to club music. I thought it was so ****, but after a while I got used to it, and now I like it. Don't be closed minded when it comes to music (except for go-go...nah jus playin) b/c most likely all of that music will get stuck in your head anyway and it'll grow on you. Let go and enjoy it...trust me, you'll be glad you did.
