Are they really safe? With the recent death of *can't remember his name* from the 49erz, it makes one wonder. The up-and-down trends with a player's weight does a number on their heart. Just a thought

If you're outside in 95+ degree heat, ANYBODY can die of heat exhaustion. Water wont do you as good as you think, especially when you're in a constant sweat, UNDER SHOULDER PADS. It's like pouring water into an oven and watching the water evaporate. No good. You could put the healtiest sumbitch on earth in shoulder pads, outside when it's 95 degrees outside (especially if it's a dry 95 and not a moist 95). They'd bake just like a 335lbs offensive lineman. Skinny people aren't always more healthy than bigger ones.

But thats the thing that makes the whole situation so weird. He died after a game, where the temperature was in the mid 60s, and showed no signs of exhaustion/excessive fatigue.

I disagree Kool. You are very likely to come into my gym, where it is over 105 degrees in the summer. You'll even catch me wearing neoprene shorts and a sauna suit for 2 hours. I've burned down from 129 to 119 in one day and had no adverse effects outside of the normal.
