Greeks and Katrina Posted on 09-02-2005
Soundcheck 1898

I would just take this moment ot encourage everybody to do what they can to help out with Katrina. The more I find out about whats going on the more upset i get about the whole situation. Right now its bigger than the storm and the gov't is really showing their **** off to the people down there who need help. Anyway, If you aren't already (which i'm sure most of you are), now is the best time to unite and call on your frat and sorors from your school, area, and across the country to do something in regards to Katrina instead of standing by idly, watching what is going on. I know Xi Eta is grinding down here and even have our interest involved in helping the cause i encourage ya'll do the same. Whether its through man power and people working in shelters, volunteering with the red cross to go down to NO and help and/or through financial contibutions, I encourage everybody to open up your minds and hearts to those people down there who are in need. People are dying right now and the gov't and Dubya just sent several thousand troops down there with M16's instead of food and water. Its time for real action. Don't talk about it... be about it. Peace ~Nate

That sounds the beginning of a civil war to me. Things are getting crazy. I think the most important thing to do right now is pray about it.

I feel u, but God called us to not just be hearers of the word, but doers as well. I can pray and pray all day, but if i don't put my faith into action and actually do sumthin to meet God half-way, then my praying is in vain. I'm with Nate, i wanna encourage folkz to realy get up, get out, and do something to contribute to this crisis. Whether from N.O or not, if u are a citizen of this country, it affects u. If u have Red Cross or your campus, or in the area, contact them and look into volunteering or perhaps donating whatever u can to the National Disaster Relief fund. Here's a lil more info in regards to numbers and contact info, but whether Greek affiliated or not, the help is wanted and greatly needed. http://www.zphib1920.org/communications/ihq.html
