Cuba, Huck, Katrina & CNN Posted on 10-02-2005

Can we say there is no utopia? There is no pure communist and democratic state. Either governmental system is ruled by elitists who take care of their certain interest group. I believe communism works in places where they are needed. China, for example, is working very well under it. Matter fact, the U.S. economy is deeply indebted to China's. In that, I believe that since we're not in the elite or desirable class, we are definitely one of the most targeted group in the US. Therefore, the lack of serious, meaningful action in the Black community is astounding. Cuba knows that it is as strong as its weakest member in its society, therefore to lose any member to a preventable disaster is wasteful. The loss of life from Katrina was not that important to the U.S. "Why?" you may ask. Well case 1: The evacuations would have been made manditory on the Friday before the storm hit on Monday. That would have given even the poorest citizen time to call up someone and get out in time. Case 2: The slow response of FEMA and the Red Cross in getting people out. The Red Cross did a good job with tending to citizens in the shelters, however. Case 3: The U.S. stuborness to put aside conficting political ideologies and take note of Cuba's preparation for the storms that it faces in greater extent to that of the U.S. Russia send help!
