So I sent everything in right. Then they sent me back a card saying that they have everything except the application addendum which they sent the same day... So the application addendum was like "have u been suspended or convicted of a crime" so I checked no and then I read the bottom and it had ANOTHER essay...I got the paper application from the internet and that one says "a topic of your choice" and then the one w/ the application addendum says "How can today's youth combat negative moral influences?" And I have to write this and send it in before Dec 1. Im so confused...I already wrote the essay they told me to write...I think maybe I'll call the school and see whats going on.....Does anyone know how this works?

Man, you should've only had to write one essay. The only one I did was the essay of choice. You should definitely call the school to see what exactly it is they want you to do.

They sent me an e-mail saying that I didn't have that either, but the lady who sent me the e-mail told me not to worry about the essay at the bottom..so I'm assuming the same would go for you..

I had the exact same problem you all had.... I wrote an Essay on the Topic of my choice..however I went online and saw a different subject. I had already sent my application so it was definately to late. I called and they did not say their was a problem ..so I just assumed that the problem was solved. I hope all goes well with you ,and I totally agree that you should not have to write another essay. Have a blessed day and I hope to see you all on campus. GO HAMPTON

Hey I hope I am not too late to help you out. Let me introduce myself to you. I am Milton Bell, II a sophomore double major in Accounting/Banking and Finance. At Hampton I serve on the Student Recruitment Team(SRT) and we are the students who give you the tour of the campus when you show up. We also work closely with the admissions couselors. The essay you are talking about is the new essay for the 2006 Freshmen Class. The problem is they have yet to update it on the website(typical HU, but U learn to LOVE IT, HA HA). Just do the essay and make sure its nice, because Hampton runs a tight ship and they really look heavily into answers to questions such as the one for the essay. If you have any other questions feel free to hit me back. Best luck with your admissions and I look forward to seeing you in the Fall at "Our Home by the Sea"

Don't worry, i had the exact same problem when i applied to hampton this past march. You said you filled out the essay online? When you send the addendum back in, just add in a paper copy of your essay. HU WILL LOSE YOUR STUFF, i guarantee it. whatever they ask you to turn in, make a copy of it just in case they ask for it again. wow... that's cracked up... how does hampton have the same essay topic for '06 as it did for '05? lol

The same thing happened to me when I applied online. I called the admissions office to make sure that my application packet was complete and they said "no" I was missing the addendum form. The lady I talked to said that the form is not always available online (it wasn't a problem with my computer), so I had her send it to me so I could complete it and send it back. I had already written the essay online so I didn't write another one. They sent me a letter in like 2 months (I did my application in August) and said that I had been accepted and that my official letter would be coming soon. You should definitely not write two essays. Just call the admissions office and explain your situation. Good luck - hope you get in!

Awww, dont worry about it.. they just did the same mess to me this week. I just called to double check on my application status and they "claimed" they didnt get the form asking about my legal history and the essay, when i know i sent it the day it recieved it. I wish this whole process was over. I wanted to do early decision but my college advisor sent my transcript 2 weeks late. All we can do it pray on it... dont worry you'll get it. Most things that have such great struggle end positively. Good Luck

Get used to it...Hampton WILL lose ur stuff...make copies of everything, learn that NOW...because they will try to trip u up! And oh yeah...stay on top of them, or else nothing will get done! And u will experience the HU run around (running around campus to get things done) so just get ready to be frustrated...smooth running is something foreign to Hampton's administration!
