I'm into music something serious man, and i'll be the first to tell you that your initial stages shouldn't be that expensive at all. If your into production the Fruity Loops software is an excellent way to begin learning your craft. You can get it off Kazaa for free (as with most software) but if you really want to pay for it, it'll cost around $149 tops. After that move one to Cakewalk Sonar or Cubase, eventually Pro-Tools and then the real stuff in actual studios. Holla at Ebay for Mics and stuff like that. If your just starting off don't get the most expensive thing you see. Get a simple condensor mic and u'll be alright for now. Now if you DO know what u're doing. EBAY is your best friend. You can get stuff real cheap off of their. This summer i'm going to try and cop a Shure KSM7 (sometihng like that forgot) for around 90 dollars... its a 600 dollar mic... Holla back

Fruity Loops is the SHIIYIIIIIIIT for a broke arse knee groe like me! I used to use that MTV Music Generator of Playstation when I first started out. I use Cakewalk every now and then. Its ok,...i guess. Cool Edit helps with the recording needs. If ya got good ears and "know how", you can get them Cool Edit tracks soundin something like professional. I need Pro Tools, a Motif, a MPC, a few mics, a empty unused bathroom or closet and I'll be set to start makin ish that'll earn me some money to buy the rest of the studio.

Man you can make good music with a pretty inexpensive set up. Psi you don't even need to cop the Motif (I was on that tip last year but i found something better). Most people don't know how to use these but in FL u can add in plug-ins called VST PLUGINS. They can be effects or they can be synthesizers. If you learn how to utilize those you'll never need another keyboard outside of a good MIDI controller again (i'm about to cop one next week for $270). You can get them off of Kazaa for free just like FL. Just type in "VST" and weed them out of the results. Right now my suggestion to anybody starting off is utilize your computer. If you give enough RAM and Harddrive space combined with a decent sound card (I'm using a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum Ex 2... trying saying that 3 times fast)... you can end up with a pretty good set up. Just learn how to use the software. You can use FL as a DXi or VSTi in appz such as Cakewalk or Cubase now. Also, Psi... look into Steinberg Wavelab. I like it better then Cool Edit. Kazaa is your best friend. IM if you want to know more or if you need something. Protools is overrated... just wanted to say that lol... yeah i said it... lol.
