I received a letter in the mail on Friday pretaining to the JSU Honors College. I talked to Mrs. Harvey and it seems like a good program. Can anyone tell me about it? How are the classes? Are they hard or do they just go at a faster pace? Also, Mrs. Harvey told me that the freshman have a floor. My question is, are there cable hookups in the rooms? Also, can you request a roommate? Thank you to anyone who takes the time to answer...

Honors college has its benefits and perks. Your first year of college is basically an upgrade of all the classes you took in high school. Many people get bored with these intro courses. Those enrolled in HOnors College have the benefit of taking these courses that move at a faster pace in a smaller classroom setting. There are no lecture hall size classes in Honors College, they are all around 15-25 students. This gives u a chance to have more one-on-0one time with your professors, and lends itself better to gettin to know ALL your classmates well. You also attend different meetings and presentations(some of which are fun, some of which are zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) The concept is, to earn honors degree, you must take 30 hours in honors courses by graduation. Some of these will be your major classes, but many of them are Colloquium courses(somewhat like debate classes where you discuss current and historical events), and electives

5TH FLOOR, BABY! Yes, the 5th floor of AlexanderResidence Center (girls on the West, boys on the East, affectionately called Alexander Housing Projects) is all honors students, and do we have fun! All dorms get free cable, we hve high-speed internet access, and you can request a roomate. But you must have a roomate or you will get charged for single occupancy (unless you slick wit it, like my girl across the hall, and just put a blanket on the other bed in the room to make it LOOK like you have a roomate!)

usually within a couple weeks of sending in your application they've reviewed it and will be gettin back wit u. Dr. Harvey is a sweet lady but you'll learn to cut conversation short cuz she will talk you ear RIGHT off. she's very concerned about the students tho so as long as u were active in high school, did well on your standardized tests, have a decent GPA and a decent track record in high school ( no serious absenteeism in high school, no 10 day suspensions)and seem hype about JSU, you're in. now don't get here and start wilding out tho, cuz she'll kick ya a$$ out with the same enthusiasm she brought cha a$$ in.
