Hello All.
As some of you know I am a student of a HBCU in NEw Orleans that has been diplaced due to Katrina. I found refuge in a school that is about 99.9999998% white. And to you all that know the STL area it in a secluded part of deep South County. Anywayz, so there are about 10-15 blacks on the whoule campus (that live on campus). We are trumendously out numbered. But so anywayz an assoiciate of mine came home to find something that I think is extremely degrading and is just horrible, I get angry just to think about it. It was published in the school's newspaper. Check it out and let me know your thoughts.

HOLLA BACK
that's nasty
however; that doesn't happen at all pwi's
just as fighting and **** don't occur at all hbcu's now do they?
i definitely feel the student on his frustration with no one doing anything about it
hell they could of had everyone on that floor sign their name
and from that
you could match up the handwriting if u wanted to do it discreetly

I have to agree on that. I understand the rage at what happened, but honestly, not every non-HBCU is just a **** rally waiting to happen. Don't go pointing fingers just because the school wasn't made just to cater to black folks.

I go to a non-hbcu. But ironically it seems to be more ghetto than some hbcu's. LOL The pop. is about half/half, but the fact is that the administration is mostly white, and we come off as a white school. But as long as I've been here, I haven't heard of there bein situations of racism here, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were. We are in Louisiana. lol

lol I go to a non hbcu as well, and yes, it's hella ghetto...moreso than the HBCU that I attended briefly...we have quite a diverse student population (with ALOT of blacks), my school has 3 campuses, my campus is known for being ghetto lol. I have NEVEr had any problems concerning race here at my school. The teachers are wonderful, the student body is HIGHLY tolerant (saw my first transvestite on campus yesterday and I was like lol) but every school has its problems
I don't neccessarily think that racism happens too often at an HBCU like it does whites. Just the simple fact of Affirmative Action; there are plenty of white people who can't get into the school of their choice and think it's because of that. But how many people get rejected from an HBCU becuause of AA?? and how many incidents of racial issues do you hear there either??? i'm not saying that they're perfect, I just don't hear of any.
oh hell you went to webster? i'm not into south county as a whole, yea i'm from u city by the way, but the entire area down there for the most part seems very "republican-anti integration" yadda ya... you know wash. u. was accepting katrina students as well, and they were setting them up VERRRRRRY nice....
but as far as the incident, it's a mess, not much more i can say, but it is very frustrating and maddening....

Yeah, I wanted to go to wash u, expectially since i am a biology pre med major. But by the time I got back from down south and called them about me going there they didn't have anymore space (that and the fact that I would have had to start 2 days later, which was impossible due to the fact that I lost everything in the ****). So I had no other choice if I wanted to start school asap.
