George Mason University advances to Final Four Posted on 03-26-2006
Africa Black

Did anybody happen to catch the GMU-UConn game this afternoon? GMU, an 11 seed, beat UConn (the D.C. regional #1 seed) 86-84 in overtime to reach the Final Four. It was a nerve-racking game...so if you watched it, you probably liked it. I know I was throwing chairs when the game got sent OT. Even though GMU isn't an HBCU, those very players could be playing at any one of the many HBCUs. They just happen to be playing at GMU. By the way, I believe this is the first time GMU ever made it to the Sweet Sixteen...the Elite Eight...and now, the Final Four. I just made this thread for any commentary, opinions, thoughts, or just simple congratulations for the team (especially if you're a MD, DC, or VA head). Georgetown may be gone..but we still got one George left.

its great to see a team who no one thought had any blue chance in hell pull the upset, especially against the #1 seed. thats what i like about college basketball: you never know whats goin to happen. thats also why i like sudden-death style tournaments instead of the BS best of 7 that the NBA has. here's to the underdogs, i hope they go all the way.
