Director, Product Management- InvisibleShield
Reporting directly to the VP, Product Development/Product Management, and working closely with other key stakeholders, the Director helps create and execute the strategic direction of specific product categories and is directly responsible for the success of product management in their assigned categories.
Working in collaboration with the other key stakeholders (primarily aligned with Sales), the Director will direct the product management process from concept to post-launch analysis. In addition to working with internal business units, the Director will have P&L category accountability. The Director will also be a mentor for members of their team; will be responsible for budgets, reporting, staffing, performance management, terminations, and other HR related activities in their department and assigned categories.
Responsibilities will include:
Strategic Product Management
Help create and execute strategic direction of Product Management
Responsible for business communication schedule
Responsible for Sales EOL and replacement roadmaps
Responsible for driving execution on PM requirements such as financial modeling, market and competitive analysis, selling propositions, document control, and communication documents
Responsible for category segmentation by partner/sku
Work in collaboration with the other business unit leaders (Marketing, Sales, Operations, etc)
Collaborate on and drive the design of category programs such as Insurance and Dealer Glass for IS, and identify gaps and need for new concepts
Serve as the internal and external evangelist for product category
Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the business and team
Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise direct reports as assigned. Team may include Product Managers and ISOD resources.
On-time launches – hitting agreed IOQ dates, quantity and quality targets
Liaise with vendors and suppliers for PD needs
Pricing and promotion – Approve all channel promotions
Research and analyze market conditions
Identify key competitor and consumer trends; be the company expert with regards to competition
Articulate market requirements and opportunities
Identify opportunities for product innovation and product enhancements
Approve strategy with the marketing communication team that defines go-to market strategy, helping them understand product positioning, key benefits and target customer
Effectively communicate project expectations and project progress and any material changes to schedule to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
Sample allocation and sample management
Approve budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
Responsible for forecasts (IFQ and ongoing orders)
Responsible for increasing revenue through new products and new distribution, collaboration with sales
Own Top Line revenue, gross margin percentages and pricing bands (online, direct and distribution) in assigned categories in collaboration with Sales
Approving load in quantities based on team recommendation and market research
Inventory management – Approve all inventory reserves and return decisions
Cost of good management – Approve the RFQ process for NPI’s and cost down initiatives
Pricing and promotion – Responsible for the establishment of wholesale pricing and any deviations
Responsible for OEM contracts and royalty margins
Qualifications & Requirements SKILLS:
Successful working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential. Cultivate and maintain an open environment for team where ideas are shared, questioned and tested
Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to anticipate problems and provide creative solutions, conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and flexibility during times of change
Excellent communication and presentation skills, including communication with team members, cross-department partners, the executive team and other internal and external stakeholders
Ability to read and react to different audiences, and adjust communication style effectively
Must be strategic, entrepreneurial, optimistic, action oriented and decisive
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
Ability to define and develop sound processes, procedures and methods as well as a history of leading change management
Willingness to challenge the status quo and offer alternate ways of thinking
Must have a history of delivering on-time product launches in a fast-paced environment
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in areas like Business, Marketing, Communications
8+ years of direct work experience in product management in consumer products industry. Experience in product management of consumer electronics is highly preferred
5+ years’ experience of leadership experience within product management
3+ years’ experience in project management with a history of leading successful projects on time and under budget with desired results
2+ years’ experience in leading cross functional teams (Ops, Sales, Marketing, Finance, etc.) highly preferred
Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings
Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with channel partners, retail accounts, manufacturing partners, or off-site personnel/management
Up to 30% travel may be required. Domestic and international travel.
