A resume may not be substituted for an application. <div id="box" style="border: solid; padding: 15px; border-color: gold; background-color: lightgray;"> Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Administration of Justice, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or Criminology. Will be required to be a certified Notary Public within 1 year of employment.Act 33/34 clearances are required prior to appointment at the cost of the applicant.It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position. The pre-employment drug screen must be completed within 48 hours of the acceptance of the conditional offer of employment. </div> Position Summary: Overview: Duties: <ul><li>Works with inmates to determine individual needs including but not limited to:</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Coordination and collaboration with probation/parole.</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Verifying address for release with the courts.</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Identifying and assisting with re-integration needs and makes referrals as appropriate.</li><li class="ql-indent-1">Coordination with the courts for upcoming hearings as necessary.</li><li>Participates in any classification or re-classification tasks as directed.</li><li>Recommends available programs and services based on inmate’s needs and assists in the coordination of programming and services.</li><li>Completes visits to assigned housing units no less than three (3) times a week.</li><li>Addresses day-to-day concerns of unit staff and inmates as needed.</li><li>Conducts assessments as directed.</li><li>Responds to inmates’ requests either directly received from an inmate or received from Administration.</li><li>Submits parole forms and other documentation to Jail Administration and the Courts as directed.</li><li>Supports and assists with all safety and justice initiatives to reduce the overall jail population and recidivism.</li><li>Resolves conflicts regarding an inmate’s charges, sentencing information, and other stipulations/mandates imposed by the Courts.</li><li>Coordinates with Alternative Housing, Inmate Programs, and Reentry for collaboration with services.</li><li>Works with other County departments and agencies.</li><li>Attends trainings as directed.</li><li>Participates on committees and workgroups as designated by the Warden or Deputy Wardens.</li><li>Performs other related duties as required or requested.</li></ul> Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: <ul><li>Counseling and casework/case management methods and techniques</li><li>General laws, guidelines, policies, and procedures of appropriate agencies and government jurisdictions</li><li>Notary functions</li><li>Criminal justice system</li></ul> Skill in: Ability to: <ul><li>Interact with an inmate population</li><li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, outside agencies, the public, and inmates, etc.</li><li>Respond to the needs and problems of inmates</li><li>Maintain accurate case records</li><li>Communicate effectively and efficiently both orally and in writing</li><li>Follow written and oral instructions</li><li>Adapt to work on a multi-disciplinary team</li><li>Resolve problems and practice resource engagement</li></ul> #INDSJ Residency: Not required to live in Allegheny County Veterans' Preference: Will be awarded to eligible candidates. <div id="Needtocenterandbold" class=" text-md-center font-weight-bold"> AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER - M/F/V/D </div> <div id="Needtocenterandbold2" class=" text-md-center font-weight-bold"> <a href="https://apps.alleghenycounty.us/HRJobApplication/firstpage.aspx?id=0345" id="MainContent_Applyonline">Apply Online</a> </div> </div> </div>
