Must have current CPR/BLS certification prior to appointment. Act 33/34 clearances are required prior to appointment at the cost of the applicant. Certification in infection control (CIC) will be required within six <strong>(6)</strong> months of hire.</p><p>It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status, and drug/medical examinations as required for the position. The pre-employment drug screen must be completed within 48 hours of the acceptance of the conditional offer of employment.</p></span> </div> <br> <span id="bold4" class=" font-weight-bold">Position Summary: </span> <span id="MainContent_PositionSummary"><br><br><p>Reporting directly to the Director of Infectious Disease, the Public Health Nurse facilitates the ongoing expansion of programs and services available to impact public health. The Public Health Nurse organizes and initiates immunization clinics, infection prevention, and education. The incumbent also monitors and enhances screening and testing for infectious diseases. The Public Health Nurse works closely with other qualified healthcare professionals to serve the needs of the incarcerated patient population and ensures extensive collaboration with the Medical Director and other Advanced Practitioners. Clinical services are performed in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern correctional facilities and infection control reporting requirements. </p></span> <br> <br> <span id="MainContent_bold12" class="font-weight-bold">Overview: </span> <span id="MainContent_Overview"><br><br><p class="ql-align-justify"><br></p></span> <br> <span id="bold5" class="font-weight-bold">Duties: </span> <span id="MainContent_Duties"><br><br><ul><li>Performs comprehensive individual assessments, evaluating risk factors, providing outreach/education, initiating screenings, and obtaining necessary specimens for diagnostic testing.</li><li>Documents patient assessments and interventions/treatments in the healthcare record.</li><li>Provides ordered immunizations and treatments.</li><li>Documents all immunizations within multiple systems and databases.</li><li>References and follows all regulations with PA-NEDSS (Pennsylvania National Electronic Disease Surveillance System).</li><li>Obtains and completes appropriate patient forms related to coordination of care to ensure confidentiality and continuity.</li><li>Provides continuous education on harm-reduction strategies.</li><li>Makes referrals to other services as deemed clinically indicated.</li><li>Conducts medication pass as clinically or operationally indicated.</li><li>Reviews literature and consults with the Assistant Directors of Nursing on additional follow-up activities.</li><li>Develops training programs for skills transfer and education of other healthcare employees in collaboration with the Staffing Educator.</li><li>Serves as a liaison with other community stakeholder programs to ensure continuous partnership.</li><li>Analyzes and tracks trends within the patient population for the augmentation and development of programs and services.</li><li>Participates in meetings with surveyors and inspectors and responds to inquiries as needed.</li><li>Assists in developing plans to address any opportunities for progression identified during the survey process.</li><li>Performs other related duties as required or requested.</li></ul></span> <br> <span id="bold6" class="font-weight-bold">Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities </span> <span id="MainContent_KSA"><br><br></span> <span id="bold7" class="font-weight-bold">Knowledge of: </span> <span id="MainContent_Knowledgeof"><br><br><ul><li>The healthcare delivery system.</li><li>HIPAA and other regulations relating to confidentiality of care.</li><li>Federal and state regulations governing correctional facilities and substance use disorders.</li><li>Infection control.</li><li>Communicable diseases.</li><li>Inmate programs and educational systems.</li><li>Laws and legislation including but not limited to: ACA, Title 37, NCCHC, PREA.</li><li>Services and programs within the community.</li></ul></span> <br> <span id="bold9" class="font-weight-bold">Skill in: </span> <span id="MainContent_Skills"><br><br><ul><li>Microsoft Office Suite.</li><li>Electronic healthcare record systems.</li></ul></span> <br> <span id="bold8" class="font-weight-bold">Ability to: </span> <span id="MainContent_Abilityto"><br><br><ul><li>Function independently and make informed decisions using sound professional judgment.</li><li>Utilize an electronic healthcare record system.</li><li>Interpret and explain statistical data and information regarding infectious diseases.</li><li>Interact with and supervise the quality of care and treatment of incarcerated individuals.</li><li>Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate programs, goals, and objectives for providing quality care.</li><li>Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with the Jail Administrative team, Medical Management team, patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.</li><li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff.</li><li>Adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks in a stressful environment</li><li>Work alternate shifts as indicated.</li><li>Ensure accountability 24 hours/day, 7 days a week.</li><li>Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, administrators, healthcare department representatives, and local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.</li><li>Become certified in infection control (CIC) within six (6) months of hire.</li></ul></span> <br> <span id="bold10" class="font-weight-bold">Residency: </span> <span id="MainContent_Residency">Not required to live in Allegheny County</span> <br> <span id="bold11" class=" font-weight-bold">Veterans' Preference: </span> <span id="MainContent_VeteransPreference">Will be awarded to eligible candidates.</span> <br> <div id="Needtocenterandbold" class=" text-md-center font-weight-bold"> AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER -
