Position Overview

Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Controller to join their team in Monterey, CA. This full-time position requires a skilled professional to manage accounting operations, financial reporting, and implement effective control measures. The role offers a competitive salary ranging from $125,000 to $155,000 annually, with a work schedule of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, 100% onsite.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
• Manage outsourced functions and services for the Accounting and Finance team.
• Ensure timely month-end close procedures and accurate financial reporting.
• Collaborate with VP Finance to reduce accounts receivable collection times.
• Implement and manage ERP systems and ensure consistency in general ledger coding for accounts payable.
• Develop and upgrade accounting systems as necessary.
• Work with VP Finance to develop financial strategies, including risk minimization and opportunity forecasting.
• Improve efficiencies and reduce costs across the business.
• Manage stakeholder relationships to control company spending strategies.
• Oversee debt management and collection processes.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, confidentiality, and safety protocols.
• Supervise accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, including transaction-processing operations.
• Ensure timely payment of accounts payable and prompt collection of accounts receivable.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations and ensure timely debt payments.
• Maintain chart of accounts and orderly accounting filing systems.
• Issue timely and complete financial statements and recommend performance benchmarks.
• Coordinate information provision to external auditors for annual audits.
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Provide positive influence on co-workers and maximize productivity and efficiency within the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in a related field or equivalent, with 7+ years of cost accounting/finance experience.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
• Thorough knowledge of finance, managerial accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
• Experience in job costing or process costing, with understanding of LIFO, FIFO, and standard costing.
• Strong technical skills in inventory reconciliation, cost analysis, and month-end close.
• Excellent decision-making, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to prioritize, plan work activities efficiently, and meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks.

Additional Details

This position is located at the corporate office in Monterey, CA, and requires no travel. The Controller will report directly to the VP of Finance and will play a crucial role in the financial management of the company, ensuring compliance with GAAP and enhancing the accuracy of financial reporting.
