Controller (JN -012025-385845)

Our client in the Atlanta area is seeking a Controller for a Full-Time Direct-Hire role. This is a hybrid position.

**Only ATL based candidates will be considered for this role. Industry Requirement: Education and/or Non-Profit**

The Financial Controller oversees all accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and audits as well as management of a regional team responsible for AP, AR, payroll, and grants accounting. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller ensures effective management of financial systems, internal controls, and regulatory processes.

Responsibilities:

Lead strategic planning and goal setting for financial operations.

Develop and maintain comprehensive financial data for strategic decision-making.

Prepare and issue financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.

Provide financial analyses to support organizational planning.

Develop and mentor accounting team members to build capacity.

Conduct regular team meetings to ensure effective communication.

Hold team members accountable for performance goals and metrics.

Ensure timely payment of accounts payable.

Oversee bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.

Manage endowment account reconciliation on a monthly basis.

Ensure prompt collection of grants and accounts receivable.

Supervise monthly payroll entries and adjustments.

Coordinate annual financial audit and tax processes.

Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure compliance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA strongly preferred, Master's Degree Preferred

Minimum 7 years of experience in an mid-size accounting environment, education or nonprofit experience required.

Minimum 5 years of managerial experience with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

Strong proficiency in financial reporting software, knowledge of Sage Intacct preferred.

Excellent strategic thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Proven ability to manage change effectively and adapt to shifting priorities.

Flexible, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity.
