This position is responsible for producing a timely and accurate bi-weekly payroll, executing all payroll duties for a set number of cost centers, and strictly adhering and enforcing payroll-related County and department policies and procedures as well as provisions of all collective bargaining unit agreements in a unionized work environment.  </p></span> <br> <br> <span id="MainContent_bold12" class="font-weight-bold">Overview: </span> <span id="MainContent_Overview"><br><br></span> <br> <span id="bold5" class="font-weight-bold">Duties: </span> <span id="MainContent_Duties"><br><br><ul><li>Verifies payroll is in compliance with all union contracts, department and County policies and procedures.</li><li>Prepares payment vouchers and back-up information for special payments such as Sick Leave Buy Back, Bargaining Unit special allowances, Comp Time payments, etc.. </li><li>Resolves problems that occur with payroll and accurately corrects any errors.</li><li>Maintains payroll related records as well as leave documentation. </li><li>Updates payroll data such as annual changes in benefit time and pay rates; handles confidential pay and personnel issues. </li><li>Verifies accuracy on employee benefit time balances; ensures inactive employees are removed from payroll.</li><li>Performs closing pay activities. </li><li>Processes payroll reports and reconciles computer payroll system reports against JD Edwards.</li><li>Serves as the contact person for all payroll related questions; distributes paychecks. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li></ul></span> <br> <span id="bold6" class="font-weight-bold">Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities </span> <span id="MainContent_KSA"><br><br></span> <span id="bold7" class="font-weight-bold">Knowledge of: </span> <span id="MainContent_Knowledgeof"><br><br><ul><li> JD Edwards products, BTTE, and payroll systems. </li><li>Collective bargaining agreements.</li><li>Leaves of absence, worker’s compensation, personnel procedures and practices.</li></ul></span> <br> <span id="bold9" class="font-weight-bold">Skill in: </span> <span id="MainContent_Skills"><br><br><ul><li>Microsoft Office Suite </li></ul></span> <br> <span id="bold8" class="font-weight-bold">Ability to: </span> <span id="MainContent_Abilityto"><br><br><ul><li>Be detail oriented for accurate verification and data entry. </li><li>Work independently with little supervision.</li><li>Type a minimum of 50 WPM.</li><li>Demonstrate proficiency in business math such as basic bookkeeping. </li><li>Meet deadlines and multi-task.</li><li>Adjust work schedule when necessary.</li></ul></span> <br> <span id="bold10" class="font-weight-bold">Residency: </span> <span id="MainContent_Residency">Allegheny County within 1 year.</span> <br> <span id="bold11" class=" font-weight-bold">Veterans' Preference: </span> <span id="MainContent_VeteransPreference">Will be awarded to eligible candidates.</span> <br> <div id="Needtocenterandbold" class=" text-md-center font-weight-bold"> AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER - M/F/V/D </div> <br> <br> <div id="Needtocenterandbold2" class=" text-md-center font-weight-bold"> <a href="https://apps.alleghenycounty.us/HRJobApplication/firstpage.aspx?id=2933" id="MainContent_Applyonline">Apply Online</a> </div> </div> <br> <br> <br> </div>
