Pathology Director of Diagnostic Infectious Diseases Testing Laboratory - Faculty
The central clinical laboratory includes integrated sections in Chemistry, Blood Bank, Hematology, and Immunology and performs over 4 million annual tests. The Director will work closely with four other MD and PhD Clinical Pathology faculty colleagues, along with the administrative and operational staff of the Clinical Laboratories, medical technology, customer service, lab processing, and specimen collection staff to ensure high-quality service to the patients, families, and clinical staff of the hospital and its associated clinics, the research staff of the institution, and the private practice community served by the Clinical Laboratories; to ensure compliance with College of American Pathologists (CAP) standards and governmental regulations; to provide consultative service and communication to the staff and users of the clinical laboratories; and, to advance research and development related to laboratory testing. The Clinical Pathology faculty are part of the Division of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine led by Dr. Sarangarajan Ranganathan and form a team with their Anatomic Pathology counterparts within the Division. The applicant must be a board-certified Clinical Microbiologist with fellowship training in Medical Microbiology. At least three years of experience in clinical laboratory leadership is preferred; however, well-qualified candidates completing fellowships in clinical microbiology will also be considered. Candidates with a PhD or MD/DO will be considered; MD/DO candidates must be eligible for an Ohio medical license. The candidate should be able to support all sub-disciplines of Microbiology. Experience in susceptibility testing, laboratory automation, pediatric laboratory medicine, molecular diagnostics, and BSL-3 laboratory operations is preferred. The applicant must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills and function well within the highly collaborative environment at Cincinnati Childrens, where cooperation across divisions, departments, and institutions is essential. The applicant must excel at teaching and actively support an educational program that serves medical students, medical technology students, residents, fellows, laboratory staff, and clinical staff. Extensive opportunities exist for independent and collaborative research, focusing on translational and clinically applied projects.
