<dt><h2>Class Description</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt;">The American Sign Language (ASL) and Interpreter Preparation Program at CCBC has been serving students for over 40 years.  The program utilizes a cutting-edge curriculum and is rapidly growing locally and online. Join our dynamic team of ASL and Interpreter Prep faculty members, ASL Coaches and staff interpreter. The program is seeking an additional faculty member to teach ASL and Deaf culture courses. Applicants with the CDI credential could also teach interpreter prep courses.  Fifteen contact hours of instruction, five office hours, college and community services and ongoing professional development are required.  Position locations include both Essex and Catonsville campuses and include teaching classes during days, evenings and online.  </p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt;">The Community College of Baltimore County transforms lives by providing an accessible, affordable, and high-quality education that prepares students for transfer and career success, strengthens the regional workforce, and enriches our community.   We invite candidates to apply that will work with us to continually improve the CCBC student experience.</p><br>For best consideration, please apply by January 7, 2026.  This position is scheduled to start fall semester 2026, August 15, 2026.</dd>
<dt><h2>Minimum Requirements</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt; margin-top: 0"><li style="margin: 0">Master’s degree in deaf-related discipline such as American Sign Language Teaching, Deaf Studies, or Linguistics of ASL.  ASLTA certification strongly preferred.</li><li style="margin: 0">Two (2) years teaching experience preferred.</li><li style="margin: 0">Proficient computer skills and Microsoft applications knowledge. </li><li style="margin: 0">Prior college teaching experience preferred.</li></ul></dd>
<dt><h2>Class Specific Essential Duties</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>Prepare and teach basic to advanced levels of American Sign Language.  </li><li>Maintain a strong presence by actively participating in department initiatives, college-wide committees and other college work groups.</li><li>Remain current in the discipline through professional development opportunities.  </li></ul></dd>

<dd><p></p><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>Native fluency in American Sign Language</li><li>Excellent written English skills</li><li>Knowledge of Deaf community and culture</li><li>Strong interest in teaching a diverse student population</li></ul></dd>
