Communication Studies-ECAP Adjunct Faculty <div id="details-info" class="tab-pane active fr-view" style="margin:2px"> <dl> <dt><h2>Class Description</h2></dt> <dd><p></p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt">CCBC is the college of choice for over 50,000 students and 200 businesses each year — all with unique goals, strengths and requirements. We offer the region’s most expansive selection of degree, certificate and workplace certification programs at 3 campuses plus 3 convenient CCBC centers along with off-site community locations.</p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt"><strong><em><u>About the ECAP Program:</u></em></strong></p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt">The Early College Admissions Program (ECAP) is a Baltimore County Public School (BCPS) magnet program that provides students with a college preparatory program that combines high school and college in a supportive, yet rigorous educational environment. Through a partnership with the Community College of Baltimore County, students will have the opportunity to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and an Associate of Arts in General Studies degree or up to 60 credits toward a Bachelor’s degree, which may be eligible for reciprocal credit at a four-year college or university. Students will earn credits through course work completed at both the high school campus and/or at the community college campus. College credits are tuition free.</p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt"><strong><u>Required Scheduling for the ECAP Programs:</u></strong></p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Adjunct faculty providing instruction in any of the ECAP programs require a schedule based on High School hours and faculty must be able to manage and fully comply with the schedule during the specific hours during weekdays. Several classes may be required within one week, as well as the possibility for class rotations from week to week. A brief orientation may be required prior to classes commencing.</p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt"><em>Communication Studies adjunct faculty are needed to teach classes for the Community College of Baltimore County at external locations, such as at local-area high schools or other local, higher-ed institutions. Adjunct faculty are selected based on program needs and subject matter expertise of the applicant. Please note that our greatest need for staffing classes is generally Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm. Many classes will require instructors to be available five days per week. There is limited availability of staffing options beyond these times, but we stress that these needs are very limited.</em></p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt">CMNS101: Fundamentals of Human Communication introduces the study of human communication. Students develop an understanding of the theoretical principles of verbal and nonverbal interaction by analyzing and applying these principles in a variety of communication contexts. Areas of study include intrapersonal, interpersonal, cross-cultural, small group, and public speaking.</p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Adjunct faculty will be expected to facilitate learning via preparation and delivery of instruction, cooperation with college support staff in timely submission of materials and grades as required, and coordination of activities with the Program Director or Coordinator. Adjunct faculty are required to attend meetings, be available to students outside of class, assist in maintaining program accreditation, and participate in professional development related to classroom instruction and pedagogy. Please note that CCBC-specific trainings may be required before certain class assignments can be given.</p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt"><strong><u>Pay level: $1085 per credit hour</u></strong></p><br></dd> <dt><h2>Minimum Requirements</h2></dt> <dd><p></p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt"><strong><u>Minimum Requirements: </u></strong></p><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt; margin-top: 0"><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Master’s degree or higher in Human Communication, Communication Studies or related field;</li><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Higher Education and/or preK-12 teaching experience;</li><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Competence and experience in relevant academic field;</li><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Proficient computer skills and Microsoft suite of applications knowledge;</li><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Prior experience using a Learning Management System (LMS);</li><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Prior college teaching experience preferred.</li></ul><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt"><strong>Please ensure that your application materials show specific or related evidence of all minimum requirements.</strong></p></dd> <dt><h2>Class Specific Essential Duties</h2></dt> <dd><p></p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt"><strong>Class Specific Essential Duties:</strong></p><ol style="margin-bottom: 3pt; margin-top: 0"><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Fulfills department and college responsibilities as directed by the program director and/or course coordinator;</li><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Abides by College-wide policies and procedures regarding classroom conduct;</li><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Employs a variety of teaching strategies to meet a diverse student population;</li><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Adheres to the scheduled time of class/lab;</li><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Develops a course syllabus that is in keeping with program and College policies;</li><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Ensures that program specific evaluation methods are administered and completed in a consistent and equitable manner;</li><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Assure that evaluation methods are appropriate and effectively assessing the established course objectives;</li><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Monitors student performance on a regular basis and provides feedback within a reasonable timeframe to students.</li></ol></dd> </dl> </div> #CCBC Contact Information
