<dt><h2>Class Description</h2></dt>
<dd><p>The purpose of this class is to work with a Senior Lifeguard staff and assist in maintaining constant surveillance of the pools, render appropriate emergency services, and inspect the pool and report unsafe conditions. This position is a probationary position for the first 6-months of employment. Prior to employment the applicant must have completed and been certified by the American Red Cross in Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR, and AED.</p></dd>
<dt><h2>Minimum Requirements</h2></dt>
<dd><p>High School Diploma or GED<br>Red Cross Lifeguard Certification<br>Red Cross First Aid Certification<br>Red Cross CPR and AED Certification<br>Blood borne Pathogen training will be provided by CCBC after hire<br>Must be at least 18 years of age<br><br></p><p style="margin: 0cm; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" id="isPasted"><strong style=" font-weight: 700; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0px;"><span style=" color:inherit;"><strong style=" font-weight: 700;">Positions located on the following campuses:</strong></span></strong></p><p style="margin: 0cm; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><strong style=" font-weight: 700; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0px;"><span style=" color:inherit;"><strong style=" font-weight: 700;"> Essex, Dundalk, Catonsville</strong></span></strong></p><br><br><strong style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;" id="isPasted">American Red Cross training is available at no cost, and a $250 stipend will be awarded with the successful completion of the certification and a six-month commitment to work at CCBC as a junior lifeguard.</strong><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><strong style=" font-weight: 700;">Blood borne Pathogen training will be provided by CCBC after hire</strong></span><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><strong style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;">Must be at least 18 years of age and pass an initial swimming test.<br style=" color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0px;"><br style=" color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0px;"></strong><p style="margin: 0cm; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px;"><br></p><br></dd>
<dt><h2>Class Specific Essential Duties</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><ol style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>Assist Senior Lifeguard Staff member in maintaining constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.</li><li>Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies.  Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services arrives.</li><li>Present professional appearance and attitude at all ties</li><li>Maintain a high standard of customer service.</li><li>Inspect the pool and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to supervisor.</li><li>Oversees the handling of identification cards as well as health, incident and waiver forms.</li><li>Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports (e.g.: health surveys, sign in sheets).</li><li>Enforce all policies, rules, and regulations of the pool.</li></ol> <br>Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive.
