<dt><h2>Class Description</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><p style="margin: 0 0 4.5pt;"><span style="color: inherit;">CCBC is currently seeking a qualified individual to teach various Physical Science lecture and lab courses including Earth Science, Environmental Science, and Geography.  Ability to teach other science classes a plus.  Fifteen credit hours of instruction per semester, office hours, college and community service, and ongoing professional development are required. The position is located on one of our campuses but may require teaching classes at other locations scheduled during days, evenings or weekends. </span></p> <br> Preferred candidates are enthusiastic about content and pedagogy, use best teaching practices, and are committed to student learning. Preference will be given to applicants who present evidence of excellence in teaching, experience at the Community College level, and those who through education and experience demonstrate ability to teach across multiple Physical Science disciplines. <dt><h2>Minimum Requirements</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><p style="margin: 0;"><span style="color: inherit;">Master's degree in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Geography, or a related field with significant relevant coursework required.  Two years of teaching Environmental Science, Earth Science, Geography or a related field at the high school level or above preferred. <br> </span></p><p style="margin: 0;"><span style="color: inherit;">Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work effectively with colleagues and students. The ability to teach multiple Physical Science courses. <dt><h2>Class Specific Essential Duties</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt; margin-top: 0"><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Facilitate and support student learning by developing and providing clear and effective instruction using traditional and technology based instruction.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Meet all classes as assigned during instructional periods. Basic teaching load is 15 contact hours each week.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Communicate effectively with students by disseminating academic information including syllabi and academic policies and by responding to e-mails and phone calls from students in a timely manner.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Provide opportunities to meet with students (office hours) at least one hour each week for scheduled or unscheduled meetings for each three credits of teaching contact hours.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Provide effective and appropriate assessment with prompt qualitative and quantitative feedback.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Keep instructional materials and student work organized and accessible.  </span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Maintain the Learning Management System site, providing students access to syllabi, grades and other supplemental course material.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Support students and other college units and comply with relevant state and federal laws (nominate tutors, write letters of recommendation, refer students to counseling, assist students with special needs, suggest library purchases, help resolve registration issues, maintain student privacy).</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Collaborate with colleagues in ongoing curricular development including content update, curricular alignment, assessment activities and record keeping.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Collaborate with staff by completing and submitting reports and documentation in a timely manner.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Attend and participate in committee, departmental, College and School meetings.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Provide College and Community Service through collegial and individual initiatives.</span></li><li style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Maintain and develop professional expertise through ongoing professional development or scholarship.</span></li></ul></dd>
