We are looking for aSeniorData Scientist withwide-ranginganalytics experienceto workwithina diverse operations business which includes Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality,Purchasingand Science & Technology.TheSeniorData Scientist willbuild and overseethe buildingofpredictive/prescriptivemodels using statistical and machine-learning methodologies.TheSeniorDataScientist will also ensure end-to-end deliveryofassigneddata science applications, studies and POCs overseeingproject teams ofjuniordata scientists and data analysts. This role will also serve as a key contributorand thought leaderto the group strategy,awareness/educationactivitiesand discovery/development/ideation of data science opportunities in the various functional areas OBI serves.This role willoperateabout 50% client-facing and 50% project involvement.Consulting andcollaborationskill setiskey to success in this role.This is a demanding role withhighlyvisible impacttosenior leaders across the operations context.

Responsibilities

• Operate cross-functionallyin collaboration withOBIfunctionally-aligneddata scientists, seniorfunctionalleadersand business partners.

• Consult with business users in the analysis of requirements and recommend solutions whichanticipatethe future impact of changing business requirements.

• Seek,develop,andimplementopportunities for technologytransfer ofdata science methods into functional areas spearheadingthe use of new methods and expanding thefootprintof impactful data science.

• Develop advanced data analytical models and techniques from supervised and unsupervised machine learning, statisticalanalysis,and predictive modeling.

• Mentor and coach related team members

• Build relationships with stakeholders and collaborate with other statistical and data science teams in AbbVie.

• Collaborate with OBIacademicpartners andAbbVieInnovation Centeron research projects and POCs

• Positionrequires a high degree of communication and collaboration with functional and business partners.

• Roleis expected tomaintainand execute practice roadmaps in alignment with functional partners and business partnersat multi-year, annual and quarterly timescales.

• Roleis expected tomaintainconsulting, educational and briefing materialscommensuratewith the evolution of architecture, design, project status, and best practices for the practice/functional area and to collaborate on overall team materials.

• Role is expected todevise andoperatean effective communication plan with key stakeholders.

• Roleis expected todemonstratethought leadership through proposals and planning for current and future state needs.

• Role is expected to quickly assess new opportunities(AI/ML techniques, technology,etc.) and present these within the current and future state of requirements,riskand cost-effectiveness.

• Role is expected to perform requirements discovery,determinefeasibility of various approaches, devise experimental approaches to test assumptions and devise solutions which incorporate non-functionalrequirements such as scalability, interpretability, and maintainability.

• Role will be expected to drive one or more key internal initiatives such as cross-functional GenAI development, data science platformevolutionor operations-wideMLOps/governance/methodology/SLCupdates appropriate for AI/MLin addition to planned and ad hoc functional initiatives.

Toolsand skillsyou will use:

• Expertknowledge of statistical and machine learning methods, withexpertisein modeling and business analytics

• Data Science tools likeKnime, Dataiku, AWS SageMaker,statisticallanguagesand packages,e.g.,R, Python, Julia, SAS,data visualizationtoolsand techniques,e.g.Tableau,ggplot, matplotlib, R/Shiny, Qlik, Data manipulation tools such asSQL, Spark,PySparkand Hive, cloud environments like Azure and AWS

• Expertiseindesigningand developingprocesses and systems toconsolidateand analyzedata. Considerations include variety (structured, unstructured), volume (includesbig data), data quality (cleaning and validation of the data)andvelocity (batch, stream).

• Expertiseinprocesses / procedures for missing data analysis, data quality, master datamanagementand good preparation practices for modeling.

• Expertiseinstory-tellingwith dataand communicating complex topicsto audiences of all levels

• Able todrive internal learning through journal clubs,internaldata science educationsessions andcontinuouslydeepen the team knowledge indata science practice andresearch.

• Able to communicate effectivelytoan executive levelaudience.

Required:

• Undergraduate with 6years of experience,masters degreewith 5years of experience,or PhD in a related quantitative field -Data Science/Statistics/Predictive analytics or similar. Foradvanceddegree holders,preference is forquantitative or engineering undergraduates such as chemistry/chemical engineering, mathematics,otherindustrial/engineering degrees.

• Experience in fulllife-cycleof build, deploy,monitoringand evolution of complex data science applicationsincludingAgile Project management processes

• Self-starter and should be able to align,adaptand manage changing requirements.

• Self-learnerabletoquicklybecome effective in new tools,concepts,and academicfindings relevant to OBI/stakeholderneeds.

• Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment

Preferred:

• Experience in Quality,Manufacturingor Central operations context in a large pharmaceuticalenvironment.

• Awareness and experience in key industry trends in relatedareassuch as Factory 4.0or Smart Manufacturing in pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

• Experience in technology transfer and innovation practices through consulting experience or through corporate roles supporting thesepractices.

• Experience working withGxPsystems.

• Experience inMLOps/SLC in Pharmaceutical operations.

• Experience in Deep Learningmodels.

• Experience withApache Spark, TensorFlow,Keras, or common analogues.

• Working experienceofOS Linux/Unix.

• Bachelors Degree with 6 years experience; Masters Degree with 5 years experience; PhD with 0 years experience. .
• Possess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own discipline.
• Proven implementation of creative technology solutions that advanced the business.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
