ABOUT THE POSITION Long Beach Community College District is currently seeking one (1) full-time tenure Interactive Digital Media: Graphic Design, Game Design or Animation Professor commencing with the Fall 2026 semester. This assignment also includes curriculum development, participation in the shared governance process through work in normal professional activities, committee work, and student activities. The teaching assignment may be at the Liberal Arts campus, the Trades, Technology & Community Learning campus or other college teaching locations. The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, on-line or off campus and is subject to change as needed. Faculty positions offer the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. The Digital and Media Arts (DMA) area within LBCC's Visual and Media Arts (VMA) Department is seeking an equity-minded candidate for an Interactive Digital Media tenure track faculty in the field of Graphic Design, Animation & Games. We will consider a range of experienced candidates from areas such as interaction design, animation, graphic design, game design and/or multimedia arts. Qualified candidates are knowledgeable of the intersections between game design, animation, graphic design and/or other areas, especially cinema, narrative, genre, branding, and experience. They should demonstrate deep appreciation for how graphic design, animation, and games and play intersect with the arts and culture. The position will teach gaming, interaction, animation, multimedia, graphic design and/or digital art production with a focus on best practices of prototyping, play testing, iteration, presentation, collaboration, motion graphics, asset preparation, and/or visual development. They may help students to create, brand, and present game designs, stories, characters, and/or animations through both digital media and traditional formats such as card and tabletop. DMA faculty will help to develop and maintain curriculum for specialized certificate programs, and they will also contribute to the broader AA and ADT programs and Certificates in the VMA department.
