Remote Voice Data Contributor – One-Time Gig (Entry Level) DataForce has launched the Orchid Remote Audio Collection Project to help improve voice recognition technology by gathering diverse voices. This is not a job or employment. It’s a paid project for voice recording, done completely from your phone, from anywhere in the U.S. (except Texas, Illinois, and Washington). Voice recognition systems and virtual assistants often struggle to understand African American voices due to a lack of diverse data. By joining this project, you’ll help create technology that is more inclusive, fair, and accurate for everyone. You’ll use your iPhone and a simple app to record short prompts indoors using your phone’s built-in microphone. The total audio recording will take about 20 minutes, with the entire task expected to take up to 1 hour. You might wonder why this project is specifically seeking African American or African adults. This is not discrimination. It’s essential for collecting accurate voice data from a specific demographic to improve how voice assistants understand and serve these communities. Just like targeted focus groups in research, gathering data from specific groups ensures meaningful, useful results that help reduce bias in technology. Participants receive $50 for completing the recording task. • Adults (18+) who self-identify as African American or African • Reside in the United States (except TX, IL, WA) • Fluent in English • Own a smartphone from 2011 or newer, capable of recording audio at a mínimum of 16 kHz Contact Information
