Visiting Assistant Professor - Education![]() University of Puget Sound Visiting Assistant Professor - Education Job ID: 8575 Location: School of Education Full/Part Time: Full Time Regular/Tempoary: Faculty Posting Details Appointment: School of Education, Master of Arts in Teaching Program & Education Studies Minor; full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin in Fall 2026. One year appointment. Responsibilities: Teach graduate and undergraduate education courses and provide clinical supervision for teacher candidates. Graduate coursework includes general teaching methods for secondary candidates, practicum seminars (co-taught), and a course on equity and culturally sustaining teaching practice. Undergraduate coursework includes a general foundations course on American schools. Supervision will include school observation visits and feedback over the course of two semesters with a limited number of secondary candidates. Teaching load is 6.0 units year-round (Fall, Spring, and Summer). Final teaching schedule may be adapted based on the skills a candidate brings. Other duties include participation in departmental meetings, collaborative work on program and curriculum development, and ongoing advising of students. Potential for a renewed contract after one year. Qualifications:

Assistant Professor salaries in 2025-2026 begin at $73,904 annualized for an assistant professor without a terminal degree in their field in their first year of full-time post-doctorate teaching through $83,262 annualized based on experience. Students seek to contribute collaboratively to the ongoing work of equity. Courses are designed to link clinical placements with pedagogical theories and practices. Cohort enrollment is typically 15-25 candidates per year across a range of endorsement areas, including Elementary Education, English Language Arts, History, Social Studies, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Science, and Music. The MAT program partners with the Race and Pedagogy Institute, situated on the University of Puget Sound campus. About the Education Studies Minor Education Studies is an interdisciplinary minor where students explore classroom practice and policy with an emphasis on social justice.
