The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training and internal pay comparison. Job Description:

Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide food and water, and basic husbandry care.
  • Cleans and sanitizes cages according to prescribed standards.
  • Observes animals daily to assess health, environmental conditions, and social environment.
  • Maintains accurate and up to date cage cards, animal histories, and other records as required.
  • Receive and house newly arrived animals from approved vendors according to established procedures.
  • Maintain housing rooms, storage areas, and procedure rooms daily including sweeping and mopping floors, sanitizing equipment.
  • Practices safety, environmental, and biosecurity control methods.
  • Completing duties as assigned in both ABSL-1 and ABSL-2 facilities.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of animal husbandry requirements, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations and/or procedures Foster positive and constructive workplace relations.
  • Time management of assigned duties when working independently.
  • Flexibility working in a changing environment.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to animal husbandry.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms and progress.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively across multiple streams, computer, tablet, .


Required Skills

Required Skills:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Some previous animal care experience preferred.
  • ALAT certification (not required)
