Job Description

The Manager, Materials Management owns the coordination of inventory and materials management within Supply Chain and all associated follow-on activities. Drive inventory reporting and analyzing strategy and innovation to ensure efficiency and predictability. Further enhance the capability to project and optimize inventories at the manufacturing site to support Operations. Enable accurate inventory data availability for senior management stakeholders and enable benchmarking with other sites and within industry to drive best-in-class at all levels of the organization. Partner with finance functions to understand financial inventory impact and drive cost improvements. Ensure compliance to inventory management policies and implement supply chain strategies focusing on inventory optimization, alternate supplier qualification, and technology/automation advancements.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for an organization of 40+ employees including 2 direct report supervisors, supporting receiving/warehouse, materials management, and shipping/logistics, with the objective to assure materials and finished goods are delivered on time, in full, and in perfect condition, with the highest level of safety and quality.
  • Responsible for Manufacturing and Non-manufacturing Inventories values above $100MM. Drive monthly inventory and budget reporting for expense budgets over $10MM; analyze Actuals vs. Plan/LBE for inventory targets; actively work with key stakeholders to understand drivers for variance.
  • In collaboration with Planning, provide advisory role to determine relevant inventory parameters in at manufacturing plant and drive the forward-looking short dated/excess inventory review process to mitigate risk on obsolescence and/or collaborate with finance to create reserves.
  • Create inventory and warehouse utilization projections within multiple subsets such as location, product, and brand for future planning and strategic direction.
  • Lead the overall materials management execution and set strategic direction, monitoring performance and following through on resulting actions with direct reports and key stakeholders. Enhance inventory processes and optimize capability from a process, system, and skillset standpoint, partnering with safety, quality, and regulatory teams.
  • Ensure compliance to all DOT/IATA, OSHA/Safety, and regulatory requirements across process areas

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Master of Science, Engineering, Economics or Business Management or related, preferably in the Supply Chain area.
  • 5 years experience in Operations, Supply Chain Management and/ or Financial Management.
  • Practical knowledge of inventory MRP systems such as SAP/JDA and/or others along with the ability to effectively query and isolate data for analysis.
  • Must be a team player with focus on improvement and a strong drive for results.
  • Excellent analytical skills are required.
  • Ability to individually prioritize and execute tasks based on a defined project plan in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills are required.
  • Must have proficiency to develop exceptional cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Manufacturing, affiliates and within Supply Chain.
  • Solid communication skills (English) required as well as excellent Supply Chain management skills/understanding. International experience and/or multi-lingual capabilities a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in small to mid-size Manufacturing Warehouse operations in a regulated GMP industry, including incoming material receiving, inventory control/cycle count, manufacturing support, shipping/transportation.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a people leader.
  • Familiar with DOT/IATA regulations.
  • Training/certification in OPEX principles (Lean/Six Sigma) preferred.
