JCITA serves as the DoWs central authority for standardized counterintelligence (CI) training, education, and professional development across the military services, combatant commands, and select interagency partners. Its mission is to develop, deliver, and sustain joint CI training programs that prepare military, civilian, and contractor personnel to detect, deter, and defeat foreign intelligence threats targeting U.S. forces, operations, technologies, and national security interests.

This role ensures analysts are equipped to provide accurate, timely, and mission-relevant analytical support across the full spectrum of CI operations.

The CI SME develops and delivers rigorous platform-based and applied analytical training designed to strengthen critical thinking, structured analytic techniques, and intelligence production standards. The incumbent evaluates and assesses student performance during practical exercises and applied analytical activities that may exceed eight (8) hours per day, ensuring mastery of tradecraft and adherence to professional standards.
