The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training and internal pay comparison. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

The Community Director will create a residential environment that fosters academic achievement, student development, and community. Serve as a leadership figure and role model. Train, supervise, and evaluate resident assistants and graduate resident assistants. Manage the day-to-day operations of the local residence life office. Provide support and supervision to the administrative secretary and work study staff, and maintain various office records, including private student information. Ensure that living and common spaces are safe, clean, and functional for students. Regulate student conduct by enforcing residential rules and regulations and serving as a judicial officer. Respond to urgent and emergency situations, intervene in conflict situations, and serve on an on-call rotation. Initiate regular contact with students. Promote learning in the living center and student and staff development by overseeing faculty-in-residence, advising the residence hall council, collaborating with specialty advisors to the specialty communities, and facilitating weekly staff meetings and training and development events. Serve on at least one Residence Life committee. Represent the department at various University functions and programs.

This live-in position routinely requires evening and weekend commitments.

Required Skills
  • BA/BS, master's preferred with two years of related experience.
  • Public presentation, written communication, and event planning skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to display good judgment in pressure situations.
  • Ability to effectively interact with and support diverse constituencies.
  • Understanding of the cultural, social and educational needs of a culturally diverse student residential community.
  • This position requires evening and weekend commitments.
