ABOUT THE THE COMMUNITY FORENSIC SERVICES (CFS) TEAM The team provides clinical services in collaboration with state and community agencies operating community re-entry programs in New Haven for clients with serious mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders currently or formerly involved with the criminal justice system. In addition, the CFS team also provides supervision and clinical services to all New Haven Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB) clients as well as liaisons with several residential programs within the New Haven area. CFS is also part of an interagency program – The CREST Center – a mental health day reporting center. High-risk seriously mentally ill forensic clients are referred to New Haven’s DOC, CSSD and DMHAS specialized forensic programs and utilize CREST programming. The Connection Inc. 23-bed Sierra Pre-trial program with DMHAS contracted beds uses CREST and CMHC Community Forensic Services to provide programming and clinical treatment for DMHAS-eligible clients. These high-risk, severely mentally ill clients attend the CREST program to provide structure and legal oversight as they re-integrate into the community, and most receive comprehensive clinical services provided by CMHC Community Forensic Services clinicians. ABOUT US DMHAS is a health care agency whose mission is to promote the overall health and wellness of persons with behavioral health needs through an integrated network of holistic, comprehensive, effective, and efficient services and supports that foster dignity, respect, and self-sufficiency in those we serve. CMHC is an urban community mental health center with an exceptional 50-year tradition of serving individuals with serious mental illness and/or addiction. Founded in 1966, CMHC is a partnership between DHMAS and the Yale Department of Psychiatry. Each year over 4,000 people receive a variety of recovery-oriented services at CMHC and its satellite clinics. CMHC is nationally recognized for its scientific research into the causes and treatment of mental illness and addiction. The Abraham Ribicoff Research Facilities include multiple research programs in a variety of areas. CMHC is also a major training site for individuals pursuing careers in mental health fields including psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, and pastoral care. PLEASE NOTE: A comprehensive medical examination, including a drug screening, will be required of all applicants upon a conditional offer of employment. All state employees must adhere to Connecticut's Policy for a Drug Free Workplace. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Licensure as a clinical social worker in the State of Connecticut. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in treating adults in an outpatient setting with severe and persistent mental health and substance use disorders. Experience in working with clients with severe legal involvement and oversite. Experience in testifying in a court setting. Experience in running clinical groups.
